Hey everyone, I just recently purchased a 2024 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Double Cab with the 5-foot bed in "Ice Cap"! I am curious about creating a modification list for the truck. What do you guys suggest as the first few things to add to the list? I saw a site that has a bunch of tents and railing systems to mount rotopax and winches. Is it worth starting with something like that? Or should I start with the easy-to-install Amazon basics, such as the glovebox organizers?

Where did yall start?? Any suggestions for a new Tacoma Owner that are a must???

(Product names and websites are appreciated for my OCD!)

Tires and tint are a good starting point and make the truck look a lot better. All weather floor mats are a nice easy mod also

    My list.

    1. Before I even drive it the front air dam is coming off.
    2. Remove stickers on bed (TRD Sport) and 4x4 stickers on the tailgate.
    3. All weather mats - Husky Xact
    4. Tint windows.
    5. Rough Country 1.5" level kit up front
    6. I will probably PPF the road rash areas in front of rear tires.
    7. Hardwire and install my radar detector.
    8. Tri fold bed cover.
    9. Bed mat so stuff doesn't slide around.
    10. Later I might add the black exhaust tip.
    11. Also later I may add Rough Country power steps/running boards.

    Hope that helps.

PPF on forward-facing metal paint surfaces. The plastic takes a beating and keeps on ticking. Not so much on the paint.

Clearly, they want you to see the emptiness you get with an SR5. The funny thing is, even on upper trims it’s mostly empty. OR models get the rear locker. I’m not sure any trim get’s all the buttons filled in. I filled em in for 13 bucks.

It's like Toyota lacks the fun gene, or cut the budget for it. Toyota couldn't have came up with a set of upfitter switches like Ford? You need all the OR features to try and fill in all the blanks, a block of toggle switches in the headliner or the center stack/console would have been a nice little touch. Instead Toyota hid the switches behind your left knee, and only need on trucks with those options.

Are you into offroading and camping or would it just be a fashion accessory? If you want to use your new truck to start exploring the outdoors then I'd do that first! See what you think you need from actually doing it. I was very interested in the bumper/winch/rotopax/overlanding crap too... but then I thought about what I actually do offroad (forest roads, 4/10 trails, tent camping) and realized I didn't need 285's and a rooftop tent to do that.

I'd start by getting a good tent, traction boards, and maybe upgraded tires if you feel that's necessary for what you want to do. Ended up with E load 265/75R16's myself. Wheels are a good mod that drastically changes the look of your truck as well. Despite just harping on fashion accessories I couldn't help myself when I saw the bronze method wheels on somebody else's army green taco.
