Got into my truck that I’ve had since October about 6600~ miles on it. Started it up and cracked the windows and all of a sudden water started pissing out of the roof. I checked and made sure my sunroof wasn’t open as it had been raining and it wasn’t. Checked if my head liner was wet and it was a little damp on the right side by the roof switch panel. But other than that no water by the sun roof. Not sure if I’m a one off with this issue.

That sucks! Sorry to hear. There are 2 types of sunroofs...the ones that leak, and the ones that are gonna leak...Our highlander has a sunroof. My wife has very specific instructions to NEVER OPEN IT! LOL

Drains are plugged. They are the bane with far more vehicles then the Tacoma. I think the Toyota Sienna is right up there with the Taco for sunroof leaks. It's a known issue.

Thankfully I’m too tall to get a sunroof model - best of luck, I’m praying my RAV4 sunroof holds tight

Depends on the environment. Live in dusty areas or lots of leaves near trees that dump pollen?…absolutely.

My IS has a sunroof and I got a $10 brush on a long wire rod specifically made to clean out those drains on Amazon. Run them down those tubes after fall and after pollen season in the spring to avoid exactly that problem. Cheap insurance and doesn’t even take 5 min to do.

Depends on where it's parked. I've seen 50 year old rides that live in the garage when not on the road with less crud in everything then some one year old rides parked under trees that shed. The other issue, improper assembly, or another hole in the roof seal failure is also possible.

The only time I have leaks so far is going through the car wash. The phase of high-pressure water overhead to be exact. The leakage is very minimal but there is some. Rain so far has not been a problem. Certainly nothing like what your pictures show.

Something like this….theres a bunch on there, mostly the same. Search “car sunroof drain tool”.

Don’t remember when but Car Care Nut did a video where he addressed this once on his channel.

Probably why they avoided the sunroof on the Trailhunter

just search “sunroof drain cleaning brush” on Amazon. There’s about 100 of them for under $10

They all leak. The manufacturers anticipate some water getting past the seal. That’s why there are usually drain tubes going to all 4 corners of the vehicle. When they get blocked is when you have an actual problem.
