My 2024 just arrived at the dealer. ARE seems to be the only camper (non tent) topper on the market. BUT

I cant find any pics online of a 24 taco with a cap.
If youve got one, can you post it?

When I ordered mine a month ago, A.R.E. was just starting to offer them. Leer is starting too. They had to design it first.

No, but when I called the local dealer for a quote, he was able to give me a quote because they had just announced availability. 400$ more, so I went A.R.E. Actually Action branded, but A.R.E. built.

SmartCaps are supposed to be available at the end of the month and they seem to be much higher quality than ARE or LEER. I got quotes from ARE that were far too close to what I could get a SmartCap for.

If you are talking RSI Smartcap, I can confirm my EVOa Adventure for 5 foot bed 24 Tacoma has arrived. Mine will sit on a shelf with my dealer until my truck arrives.

Yes, that's the one. Got a quote for 6ft bed for $4195. It seems much higher quality than the ARE offerings.

Been considering the Alu-cab which according to OK4WD (their US distributor), should be due in Q1 of 2025. But have heard in the past that there have been some construction quality issues with their shells. I think it does look way better though, contours more to the cab than the RSI topper does.

I was also considering the Alucab. But went with steel cause... magnets. And molle panels on the doors. But, mostly magnets.

Will probably end up with the Alucab RTT.

Here is my 2024 taco with an ARE CX REVO installed. I own Topper Town a camper shell and truck accessory shop in New Mexico and we’ve done a bunch of these shells on the 4th gen’s already. I’ll post a few more pics for you all of others we’ve done.IMG_1106.jpg IMG_1106.jpg IMG_1110.jpg

Just curious, how do these topper vendors deal with the wide variations in window tint laws across the 50 states? The posted pics look pretty dark. Do you get to choose the VLT (visible light transmission) percentage for the windows when you order, depending on what states you drive in? Or is the tint baked into the glass and it's just not legal in all 50 states?

The tint on all of or shells we sell is industry standard at 31% which is within the legal limit for most states. They do appear darker in photos than in person.

Pretty sure all states tint laws pertain for ability of LEO/rescue to see passengers and for driver impairment. Any glass not pertaining to viewing of passengers and impairment usually have no restrictions. Toppers are over the bed area which are not intended to have passengers. For my state, SUVs back side windows (ones over the storage area) in my state have no restrictions. Even rear windows have no restrictions provided there are rearward facing side mirrors.

I have run blackout on my topper's side windows through two thirds of the country for six years. Haven't been pulled over for any reason. Yet.
