I've seen a few questions on trim differences. The attached .PDF file from https://pressroom.toyota.com/vehicle/2024-toyota-tacoma/ clarifies what is standard for each trim, available packages, dimensions, etc.

Maybe we can get the mods to pin the post, at least until the online configurator and ebrochure appear.

Am I reading this correctly? The only way to get the 14" display/ premium audio is to get a TRD OR or Sport with the $8,500 premium package?

I did see a conflicting post on another forum show the 14" display/ premium audio as an Option add on not just via Package add on.

Maybe I am reading wrong or don't know the difference between Option vs Package for Toyotas. Hope this can be found outside the premium package.

Appears to be a stand alone option, but considered a package.

It doesn't seem to be clear - the spec sheet doesn't seem to add up unless I'm just not reading it right. There are five different display/audio options listed (standard):

    8 inch screen with 4 speakers. (Pre-runner)
8 inch screen with 6 speakers. (TRD OR/Sport)
8 inch screen with 10 speakers/JBL Flex speaker.
14 inch screen with 6 speakers.
14 inch screen with 10 speakers/JBL Flex speaker (Limited)

The SR and the SR5 don't seem to have a "standard" as everything is listed as either Optional or Package so that's weird. Though I think the first drive stuff says the 8 inch display is standard...?

There appears to be two "levels" for upgrading the TRD Sport or the OR - either the "premium" package or the "upgrade" package. The Premium for sure includes the 14" display. The Upgrade just lists the JBL bluetooth speaker - and it is apparently possible to get the 8" screen with the JBL Portable Speaker so I'm assuming that is what you'll get with the "upgrade" package. However, there is a 14" screen with 6 speakers and no JBL listed as a "package" for the TRD Sport/OR...but I can't find any package or option that lists the 14" display without the JBL and only 6 speakers...

But the Redline Reviews first drive video of the Tacoma has a TRD Sport with the 14" screen and no JBL bluetooth speaker and he says it's a "standalone option".

I was reading this as saying it is only offered as part of a package. i.e. The Premium package includes this.

The .pdf came directly off Toyota’s pressroom site for the Tacoma. However, I have seen their Marketing group publish errors in the past. I would not consider anything locked until probably after the Christmas holidays.

I really don't like the way Toyota builds and sells vehicles. I wish they just did custom orders. I have seen the below showing the price for each "option" which makes me think it is possible to get some things outside of package upgrades.

I thought that at first too but then I realized that they show what is avaialble under the Audio section and then under the options and packages section it is broken down as an audio package and then the premium package. And I have seen pricing for just the audio package so I think I am correct in my way of thinking.

So based off the spec sheet and what you posted those are the only options you can add. Everything else is in the premium or upgrade package.

I actually just look on SmartPath and they have updated what is showing for the 24's and I see some with 14" screens without the Premium package. So you are correct.

Based on the videos the cab doesn’t seem much bigger, if it all, but it appears to have actually shrunk in several areas…

    Changes
    Headroom (front/rear) 0/+0.1
    Legroom (front/rear) -1.1/+1.1
    Shoulder (front/rear) 0/-1.1
    Hip (front/rear) -0.4/0

I was worried hip and shoulder would decrease. There’s a s-ton of plastic bit on those door interiors. That leg room game is well played by Toyota ;)

I was hoping for a bit more towing capacity, but it stayed the same comparing the 3rd gen and 4th gen manual double cab trucks. I could work with 6400 lbs towing capacity like I do with my current truck, but even a bit more would be nicer.

I'm curious to see if this truck can have the trailer brake controller without this JBL Flex sound system that I absolutely do not want if I were to be buying a 4th gen Tacoma.

I'm leaning towards keeping my 3rd gen, but still won't be opposed to buying a 4th gen in case shit hits the fan with my 3rd gen.

Crappy headlights? Everything I have seen shows LED headlights for all trim levels as standard.

yeah, but they all got halogen turn signal/DRL is kinda crappy, 3rd gen we can get LED lighting package on TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road to have upgraded headlights from factory for cheap, according to the spec sheet, 4th gen that's not even optional is a huge bummer as I'm sure it's plug and play but gonna cost at least $2k a pair buying as parts from Toyota OEM

The removable speaker just looks pretty gimmicky and looks like a thing thieves will just break in and steal.

I appreciate modern features, but some of them seem to be gimmicks.
