I was wondering overall how many Tacoma 4th Gen owners here purchased their truck specifically because it is still offered in a 6 speed manual?

Reasons for purchase, are you happy with it?

Because I am waiting on an SSDI case to be finalized and then i can purchase the Tacoma me and wife are interested in.

I did. 2024 trd off road manual transmission. Very happy with it, like it a lot better than my 2023.
It's the same as my 1991 manual was. Geared low in 1st, long shift throws, etc. If you like driving a stick then get it.

I wanted a manual transmission vehicle before they are all gone. Land Cruisers are my thing - but I appreciate all Toyota 4x4s. The mix of a 6MT, torquey 2.4T, ergonomic improvements, and safety ratings pushed me to pull the trigger on a 6MT TRD OR. Great overall value at ~$40K.

I was in the market for a new(er) reliable vehicle, looked at what was available in a manual and decided to get a Tacoma. Comparing resell and figured new was a better option for the difference in price.
Took delivery in September and I love it. Plenty of power when you want it and on the highway, if I baby it, I can get 27mpg on 87.

Me! After my 19 6MT was totaled I was glad that Toyota offered the manual in the 24. I went out of state to find and buy one. So far, I love it more then my 19. The only thing I don't like is the color but unfortunately I had to make sacrifices to get a TRD OR Premium 6MT. I think its important that manual vehicles are bought new because manufacturers don't care (read: track and use for further product decisions) about the used market. It was always a pet peeve of mine in other brands (VW Golf R/GTI forums)when people said "Oh, I'll just get a used one in a couple of years". Well here we are and VW discontinued the manual

I had an ‘21 TRD Pro manual and just got a ‘24 TRD OR. The ‘24 is much better behaved on road, especially on the highway. I haven’t taken the 4th gen off-road yet. I am disappointed with city fuel economy but have only driven 200 miles. The display says 14MPG around town. I got 16 to 18 MPG with the 3rd gen.

Yes, I'm one of those people. I'd almost given up, in which case I'd be probably be driving a manual Porsche 911 now.

The 911 is just not very practical though. I had been holding out for a manual TRD Offroad Tacoma for 10 months and was ready to start looking for the right Porsche, when I found the truck that I bought available at my nearest Toyota dealer. There's only about 15 Toyota dealers within an hour drive of my home.

My previous truck was a 2006 Silver Tacoma 4 door 4WD TRD Offroad MT that I'd owned since new and would still be driving if I hadn't crashed it late last year.

My new current truck is a 2024 Silver Tacoma 4 door 4WD TRD Offroad MT. I kinda wanted to get a different color, but oh well. I was happy enough with my first one that I was planning to keep it forever. If I don't wreck my truck again, I'll probably keep this one until I die, or at least until I'm old enough to want to drive an automatic transmission. I've never owned an automatic transmission car, truck or motorcycle. In my defense, I do get bored easily.

I would not have bought a Tacoma if it wasn’t a manual.

Its great, I love it, even with a little worse MPGs than the 8-speed. I like finesse a clutch offers while off-roading .

A few things that I didn't realize (but are probably obvious):
No stop start, and no remote start with the manual.
    It uses different floor mats.
But you can shift with the door open (I guess autos have a lockout when the doors open?)
You also can't get the long bed with a clutch.

Looks like I'll be one tomorrow morning, because you couldn't get a manual in 23.

The 6MT was available on the CC/5" Bed TRD OR, TRD Sport, TRD Pro and the AC/6"Bed TRD Sport in 2023.

Yep. It's the only reason I bought a Tacoma. Otherwise I would have bought an F-150 or a Tundra.

The only reason I bought this truck was for the manual. I'm 55 and have never owned an automatic. Had Ford Rangers for years. Was in a Subaru for a while, going through a divorce and needed an affordable 4 door car. Decided I wanted a new Ranger or F150 but realized I could not get a manual. Looked at the Tacoma and decided it was a nice truck. No regrets, actually very happy with the truck. Toyota made a fine product and I also found the dealers and service people a bit more professional than Subaru and Ford. Every time I drive and shift I feel like I made an excellent choice going with the manual Tacoma. Doubt I'll ever go back to a Ford. Side note, was very happy with the Subaru, so if I needed a car again would not hesitate to buy another.

I had a 2018 MT, and got a (very) late production 2022, because I was concerned that the 4th gen (scheduled to be a 2023 model) might not have the MT option. I hoped to get a bit of a collectors' truck as well as having what I preferred. It's an AC MT Off-road, so it's still pretty rare.

I am hoping there is a decent uptake on the 4th gen MT, so that it is still available when/if I opt for a new vehicle. Please go for it, and encourage others to follow your lead.

Before I decided to put my deposit down in late 2023, there were many trucks on my list, however as soon as I heard that a manual would be available in the next Tacoma, that finalized my decision. Now almost a year later, I have no regrets. I would do it again in a heartbeat .

So I picked up a 24 TRD OR 6M today. It drives like a truck, and reminds me of an 89 F150 I had with a 300 6 cylinder and 5 speed.

Folks that think they'll get something like a Miata's snickety-snick shifter will be disappointed.

It certainly isn't a Miata. Saw your pic in the other post. Hopefully, you didn't get too much friction from McCarthy's GSM - he was not happy when I refused their financing. Were they willing to play ball on negotiation? I was able to get 9% off MSRP on my 6MT TRD OR - but I felt like I left money on the table.

Love my 2024 MT TRD OR. I didn't bother to cross shop Rangers, Colorados, or Frontiers because they don't come with a stick. I live in an area with lots of elevation changes; the 4x4 gets me up the hill in the snow but the MT helps me get safely down. I've always bought used and this is my first-ever new vehicle (not counting new cars I've bought for my wife). These trucks hold their value so well it made sense to buy new. It was tricky to find the truck I wanted (MT, OR, blue crush metallic, optioned with only the 14" screen and heated seats) but AutoTrader helped me find one incoming to a dealership about 100 miles away. I put the $ down and picked it up in July. No regrets!
