Hey yall, as the title states I'm conflicted between these two trims. Does anyone have any input about the limited Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) or the TRD OF Bilstein Monotubes? Seems like it really comes down to this cause the premium package for the TRD OF will pretty much give you the bells and whistles of the Limited. This will be my DD so highway commuting will be heavy. Thanks in advanced!

To chrome or not to chrome…..that just might be the answer. It was for me and went with the OR. That limited will ride nice if you leave it stock. I think you are really just getting the HUD and steps…rest will be same.

I've got an Off-Road with the Premium package and have yet to see a Limited. But I can tell you this: My truck rides better on washboard gravel than anything I have driven for the last fifty years. On the pavement, it is great too.

Is the interior nicer in the Limited? Like leather padded dash and arm rests? Woodgrainish Tacoma dash too?

Both are nice vehicles. One has AWD and can't have a long bed. Haven't you been able to test them? Try to do that.

I really like my new TRD OR but don't know what "highway commuting will be heavy" means. Lots of miles? I wouldn't want to drive any of them for a lot of commuting if I didn't have to. As much as the gen 4 are great improvements, they're still light trucks. They have solid axles and high center of gravity and can't really be as nice as some other vehicles for a lot of roadway and streets commuting.

If you don't need a locker and spend mostly road time maybe a Sport over OR if Limited does not interest you but trying those, I still felt the solid axle and high center of gravity.

I spent some time at a dealer this weekend looking at both. Initially I had written off the limited thinking I just couldn’t abide all the chrome. But after spending some time in both, the Limited’s interior felt much nicer. I commute about 50 miles a day and the limited will be a nicer place to spend that time. I also use my truck to tow a 22’ whaler short distances on the weekends and there seems to be no distinct advantages among the different trim’s capabilities in this regard. If there’s the possibility of a Nightshade version of the Limited in 2025, I might just wait. If not I’ll likely just get a ‘24 and learn to live with the chrome.

I think the AVS rides nice. It definitely will soften up the suspension a bit when you're on crappy roads - not a massive difference but it's there nonetheless. I pretty much leave my truck in comfort mode all the time and have zero complaints about the driving experience, I'm on aftermarket 33s as well.

Biggest noticeable differences are the HUD, power running boards, additional softex (like on the gloveblox, armrests) and the "wood" finishes. There's also some minor stuff like additional detail in the headlights. I will say one thing about the HUD - it's pretty much invisible if you wear polarized glasses since the angle of the windshield is much steeper than most cars. On my fiance's NX, her HUD is still visible, but on my truck, it's pretty hard to see with polarized lenses.

Chrome is mostly a personal preference. I de-chromed most of my truck - big reason I got the Limited was more or less :

    1. Not doing any seriously wheeling - just some occasional dirt paths when camping, so the locker / swaybar disconnect on the OR were not appealing to me.
    2. I'm not a huge fan of the scoop but wanted all the goodies in the TRD Sport Premium package.
    3. I found a stripper with only wheel locks and AVS on it. Lot of trucks I looked at were loaded to the brim with port options.
    4. I got a solid deal on the truck itself - about $3800 off MSRP.
    5. The dealership gave me too much for my trade. Now they're buried in it. I got my truck in April, they're still sitting on the trade and now have listed for less than what the allowance was.

I think if you were looking at a Sport Premium vs Limited, it would be a more fair comparison. But between the OR Premium & Limited, if you're doing mostly highway driving - I'd say go for the Limited.

FYI and for @manamannat in our long time and very much shopping we tried LOTS of stuff. For examples, a Grand Highlander with 5000 pounds capacity and the new Land Cruiser. A friend very happy with their Subaru Ascent uses its 5000 pound tow capacity. Other well rated SUV more civil for a 50 mi commute will have tow capacity. Even though a Land Cruiser will still have a solid rear axle and only slightly higher MPG rating, it would not have the Tacoma's highly compromised back seating. Also, some of the SUV format vehicles we tested could better carry some items than the short bed pickups.

All the Tacoma variations we tried were good. I'm not in any way putting them down and we really like our Tacoma. I just don't know why I'd want to be driving the pickup when I did not have to or if something nicer could work. With a pickup and nice wagon I find we use the pickup for honest truck stuff or when that's the only option. The very nice pickup just can't ever handle or burn fuel like the nice car or premium minivan we traded for the pickup.

my last tacoma was a limited and i just deleted all the chrome and changed up the wheels/tires. I think you are correct about ride quality though felt like I should have left it stock.

Ok good to know! I go to the beach almost every weekend so something that can handle sand well is a plus for me

thanks for your input. Haven't been able to test drive them yet with work but planning to this weekend. I drive around the city a lot. Cannot go back to a sedan after being in a Tacoma and its the perfect vehicle for me to do everything.

Awesome thanks for the insight! My last tacoma was a limited and loved how nice it was on the inside. Would love to wait for the 2025 but unfortunately cannot.

awesome thanks for the input. The roads I drive on mainly have a bunch of potholes but mainly concrete so the comfort is desirable. I guess I'll see what the better deal is.

We have a 4runner in the family to lug us around so the truck is mainly for me and to do truck stuff when needed. I've considered another SUV but since we have one already didn't want to get another.
