Tell us more about the shifter!

Is it just the knob or a whole shifter?

I too would like more information. Haven't seen any aftermarket options for the 6MT yet.

The website for Core Shifters says they just need a 2024 shifter to make one. I kinda need mine though!

I got the shifter on Amazon. It is a T Hearst shifter, my wife filled in the cavity with paint the same color as the truck solar octane

Did you have to drill it out? Or did the threads line up?

I'm sure they would need the whole shifter assembly. Which would make your truck inoperable until you get it back.

I’ll be surprised if Core can really create anything. They’ll have to come up with their own shifter extension housing most likely. The existing shifter extension housing is designed for the stock shifter to pop in on top. To be able to reuse the stock extension housing you would need to build something that sits on top of it so that the fulcrum point can change for the shorter throw. You can’t just replace the shifter tower like on an older truck. I don’t know if Core understands this yet, but I doubt it.

Only thing I could see working is something like the old URD option where an extension piece bolts onto the stock shifter stub that goes in the transmission to make it longer, and then they use a spacer under the shifter to transmission connection point at the transmission to put the shifter back at the right height for the longer reach stick. But that puts extra stress and leverage on the stock stick and may not be ideal. I know some of them have sheared off. Some also loosen up over time.

Or you can just let it sit there like I did. That isn't really a big deal. The new shifter feels real good solid shifts and on point gives your hand something to really hold.

We probably had a miscommunication. My post was in response to someone wanting a short throw shifter. Nothing specific to do with changing the knob or adapting the boot to a new knob.
