I may be wrong about hybrid
They ARE unreliable in other makes
    But look at the Prius

Toyota usually copies other brands 10 years later in their own more reliable way, letting competitors be the Guinea pig with growing pains. Germans have been doing 48V “Mild Hybrid” for some time as well. Same big orange cables.

what are the chances these new 4x4 drivetrains will have similar durability to Prius, which has models out there doing 400k mi

also, some people live in a Prius. Why?
A/C can be run over night. Gas engine periodically kick on to idle briefly. Only other engine that can do that is diesel. I think also Tesla

If there becomes a way to do this with 4x4 hybrid that’s important. Overlanding, hot temps, etc

Here's how the hybrid works in trucks compared to the Prius

I like it. Im sure it will be WAY out of my price range but its the first new vehicle release in quite a while that has me itching to find a dealer ASAP.

I'll bet that before the end of the year there will be a YouTube video showing the Landcruiser in Moab. Probably going up Hell's Gate, stock.

I personally like it and I'm not even considering moving into an SUV. I do wonder what this means for the 4Runner, which will get the same powertrain. The new LC is probably going to siphon away quite a few would-be 4Runner buyers.

Kind of cringe that Tacoma owners think they have this ultra off roader when it’s a click above a Camry on a steel frame. Less capable land cruisers have seen more dirt than 95% of the dressed up Tacoma grocery getters on this forum.

Yeah, it looked a like a four door FJ to me when I first looked at.

Seems like a direct competitor to the 4R to me, globally it fills the same slot the 4R would, they even start at the same price! (US vs AU at least) maybe that means the US LC (Prado) will start closer to 40k like the current 4R?

Hoping that implies a reasonably equipped 4wd 4Runner will be in the mid 40’s. Which would imply a reasonably equipped 4wd Tacoma will be low 40s. Then again Toyota will probably $hoot the moon for all three.

Gotcha, you confused me when you wrote US LC (Prado) since this LC250 IS a Prado...lol

I saw the mid 50's in the press release, but I don't interpret that as "starting" ?

again mostly because it literally IS a Prado in other markets and is starting around 65000aud ->$42000usd

but it looks like that might be a non-hybrid

Yeah, all the videos have repeated that the base model starts mid 50's. So if the bare bones is starting in mid 50's, I'm guessing thats the starting price.

yeah I have seen all the reviews and articles stating the same thing, Motor trend etc.

just seems like if thats true, 50k for manual seats + cloth interior is not a deal I'm looking to take, when the GX550 was quoted as "starting" in the mid 60s

I did not see that the GX was supposed to start in the mid 60's, thats great as the starting price only went up 5K or so.

Here is a pretty good comparison of the two I found

I prefer cloth seats but point taken on the manual adjustment. It does look like a fair price for the mechanic elements. Hybrid turbo, AWD with locking rear and transfer case, LED lighting with fogs, 18” wheels, heated seats and steering wheel, 2400 watt ac…

maybe I’m jaded by how expensive cars have become but this seem like a fair price and kind a near perfect appointment for a long term vehicle treated rough.

also car and driver is saying $56k base price.
