I am looking at 2023 TRDORs. My 2016 has the OEM trifold cover and I really like it. I have to sell the 2016 before buying new one. If I remove the 2016 cover, I don’t have any trim pieces to install on it to cover up the cut out slots for latch posts. My dealer is not taking any new orders and no 2023s coming in have a tonneau cover. I can’t find an aftermarket I like as well. I am not gonna drill any drain holes in my bed. My OEM doesn’t leak any water in. Plus I don’t like losing the rail moveable tie-downs many aftermarket’s require. I really want an OEM cover but unless I buy new truck first don’t see a way since can’t swap trim without owning both simultaneously. Do these aftermarket covers leak so much you need a drain tube?

My 2021 has an aftermarket soft-tri-fold cover. It never leaks.

I have an Extang Xceed. Does not lose use of the rail, but it does get moved down a few inches. It comes with drain tubes but I never bothered and don’t see any appreciable amount of water in the bed.

No. Altho mine is not 100% water proof, the very small I get behind the cab is negligible.
And that leak only coming from 2 hours of driving in a down pour.
I also never carry anything in the bed so fragile that a bit of water will hurt it.
You can see the weatherstripping on mine is pretty well designed.

Nice! What brand is it? Also I have the OEM Tacoma (rubber, thick) bed mat . Any water getting in at edges would be under bed mat and eventually drain out tailgate. So some minor leakage at edges shouldn’t allow anything in bed to get wet. My wife and I have used my TRDOR for trips to beach, etc. Many times we put luggage in bed, lock cover and leave room in truck open.

Borracho Loco, what brand is yours? Very funny line about your truck identifying as a Prius

Generally the aftermarket covers are fine. Typically cheaper than an OEM as well. I’m happy with my Lomax.

I have the Tyger T3 trifold, which I also got on Amazon. It fits well, looks good and you don't lose the rail tie down functionality. Seems to be similar to the one Borracho has. I don't get water in the bed but I live in AZ so it seldom rains here. Don't notice any water leaks from running it through the car wash.

I have the Undercover Ultra Flex. No drilling involved and it seals real well. I fitted the drain tube with a brass nipple fitting and ran it to the factory drain holes in the bed. TBH if I can do it over again, I probably would've gone with the Bakflip. The reason being is with the cover I got, you loose function of the bed rails. On the Bakflip, you relocate the bed rails. Something to think about.

You already have drain holes drilled in the front of bed. Look, lift your bed mat. New bedrail cover to replace your old are $150. Each.

Go for the bakflip mx4. It’s expensive but you get what you pay for. Well worth it if you plan on keeping your truck for a long time.

That freaking OE tri-fold is the worst cover I've ever had. Mine came factory, the truck is three years old and the cover looks like it's twenty years old. It's badly faded to a "garbage can green" color and the paint on the center rail delaminated and came right off after two years. Plus it leaks (I really don't care about leaks).

Lomax trifold hard cover. Love mine and super high quality. Low profile too. Uses factory rails and no drain tubes needed

Off the subject. Where did you find those painted fender flairs?

At the dealership where I bought the truck. I made them paint it before I would buy it. They did it for $600
