Maybe if every soccer mom didn’t drive a Yukon or similar with headlights brighter than the sun, we wouldn’t need massive vehicles to keep up.

I do miss driving a small car, but safety and visibility wise trucks/SUVs make sense.

It’s been ingrained in our culture.

Looks like Toyota decided to cash in on the higher actual transaction prices. Either Toyota increases MSRP or the dealers profit extra with "market adjustment".

I actually saw this coming and updated truck, motorcycle and side by side last year, all 3 are 2022 models. No sense sitting on money when it's buying power is evaporating. Side by side price alone went up $1600 and the accessories I put on it went up by 1/3. Now I'm just sitting back buying nothing but food, fuel and utilities.

    Have at it folks,..............

What side x side to you go with? I prefer the interior room and seats of the can am x3's, but the tech interface on the Polaris is nicer.

    Kawasaki Mule Pro MX

Can Am's are very nice rides, my cabin is smack in the middle of the Manistee National Forest so I get to see a lot of machines. I wanted a working rig that could play well too so I hunted all over my area and after a few months snagged a Kawasaki Mule Pro MX. It has the rugged mule drivetrain but set in a more comfortable Teryx suspension. This was almost as difficult to get as a AC Tacoma with a manual! They are sold as soon as they hit a dealer website, I bought mine over the phone and drove 140 miles downstate to get it. We love it, it's exactly what we wanted and it's very easy on fuel with a 9.5 gallon tank so it's range for cruising the trails is amazing.

This Mule has tons of torque, power steering, 4 wheel drive and a rear locker. Out of the dozens of machines I see around Luther, Dublin, Wellston and Irons MI I have yet to see another PRO MX Mule.

    2023 price increases are insane.
They only are if you pay it. It doesn't matter to me if its a Tacoma or a box of Quaker Oats I will not pay these ridiculous prices. I look for other alternatives.
If you don't really need a new car why do you let yourself get gouged? Just wait it out. Do I need to pay $6 for a box of oatmeal when I can eat toast for breakfast instead? Its a no brainer.
Prices keep going up because people keep paying it. If people will stop doing that what do you think will happen? We create this mess with this I have to have it now mentality.

I believe the point is that the increase is from the manufacturer not strictly the dealer. Markups eventually go away, but price increases from the manufacturer rarely go back down. Same analogy as the gas prices. Toyota knows every other manufacturer is increasing prices so they can do it too. Dealerships in turn get charged more, and pass that onto you.

There's always new consumers introduced to the market. For them what ever the price is now will be normal to them, they won't be comparing today's price to what prices used to be.

I'm surprised to see the amount of new home construction that I do. Most of it was probably planned a year or two ago. Maybe a lot of them are presold, but seeing new developments going up today. I'm thinking who is buying these things.

Manufacturers are catching up to inflation. Dealerships were taking advantage of low supply, and free money which drove up demand with those good ole market adjustments. Had the supply chain not been weakened, buy massive layoffs and clousers of manufacturing and logistics providers. Prices wouldn't be where they are today.

Sometimes I would stop by the stealership just to check out their new inventory and their current prices. Crazy how the prices have jump. I bought my 2017 for $34.5k, a similar spec'd truck is now $43.5k...

That’s also inflation and the manufacturer, not just dealer.

I find Toyota prices still quite reasonable when you compare them to the rest of the market . In fact, that’s what brought me back to Toyota after many years in Fords.
Pre Covid times I found Toyota to always be more expensive then the other brands and they never offered any discounts . Here in Canada it is sticker price and that is that . It’s always been that way with Toyota… very little if any discount ever available . My last few Fords I paid 10-13k under msrp because of all the discounts and rebates they always had . Family pricing amd delivery allowance etc. this got me into a well equipped super crew 4x4 f150 for 47k that had a sticker price of 59k .
Now since Covid and all the supply chains shortage crap, no brands are offering any discounts… in fact I know some ford dealers are charging way over msrp. So now that same super crew 4x4 F150 that used to be 59k has now crept up to around 70k, and with no discounts at all ... they can keep it !
I just bought a brand new 23 TRD off road access cab for $46,300 all fees in out the door (no tax because my trade was more)
So for me, it was a no brainer to go with Toyota this time . I always preferred Toyota quality, but the fords were just a way better deal . But not anymore .

I bought an SR at MSRP in August last year. Thought I would regret it with prices going down eventually. Nope.

I was surprised to how fast homes sell that are around where I live. They seem to go on the market and within a week, you see the realtors sold pending sign put out. All these residents that are moving in have very new cars, or trucks, and it hasn't mattered what race they are.

The existing home sales have been good. I have no real estate market knowledge but individuals and institutions have been buying everything that's on the market. It's the new sub developments that I'm looking at and wondering, really? I wouldn't think that banks would want to buy into those, maybe they do. Maybe they won't sell that quickly. Just like vehicles everyone that's built will eventually sell.

About a year ago, here in Metro Arizona we'd see houses sell in a day. My house doubled in value in 5 years. But now, they sit a bit longer and
prices have eased up a little. Even if they drop another 20% my house value will still be good. Wish I had bought 3 of them 5 years ago, or 6
of them back in 2009 LOL.

Motivated people can make good money in this labor market. There are help-wanted signs EVERYWHERE and if you have skills, any skill, you can
exploit that and make good money. I'd love to go back to work and hang up my retirement boots but there is still age discrimination going on, plus
the taxes I'd have to pay and loss of so-so-security keeps me at home.
