In my area, imagine how hard it’s going to be to get hold of a 24. I really want to see one in person before I decide which midsize to buy.

How many solar octane pros? I had a hell of a time finding mine, and only got it because someone that ordered it backed out. The guy didn't say what he exactly was looking for, but finding the configuration you want can be hard

There's a lot of listings, but notice how many are stock photos. There's maybe 5 that show the truck actually at the dealer. If you were to call on most of the generic listings, you'll find they don't have the truck in hand or it's already sold. It's not as easy as it seems, I found out firsthand

Like I said, you have to do the leg work and find one not spoken for already.

Who buys these things? They are great trucks Toyota builds them by the hundred thousands, they'll last for ever. My mind is blown by how many of Tacomas, Toyota builds. Yet they are so hard to come by. Who is buying all these trucks?

Availability is also a function of trim: TRD models, Trail, and Pro will require some strategy. If you want leather/LEDs, it’s only going to get tougher as production winds down. I drove across the state for the one I wanted way back in ‘18. Gen3 has had a sustained run of high demand that few other Toyotas have ever seen. Fully expect Gen4 to continue that theme.

Best play might be an SR5 4x4 in the color you want. Solid truck, more on the lots so dealer more likely to negotiate.

I gave up on the 23, because I only want manual. My local dealership only gets 2 Tacoma allocation per month. They have not seen a manual Tacoma since the pandemic. Longo Toyota on the other hand only sell to CA residents. They get about 50 Tacoma allocation per month.

So, it now finding a hooptie or taking public transportations to work.

You can always pick a different dealership or ask your local dealer to trade with another for a manual.

Apparently they don’t want your money, find one that does…

To clarify, I could still get a manual Tacoma TRD off-road, but it would have to be with the advance technology package and premium package which I do not need---and would also be out of my price range. 41K OTD is my limit, 47K OTD is too much money for things I don't need. Even though Minnesota is a very cold state, I don't actually get cold so I wouldn't need heated seat in the first place. Once slept outdoor without any covering or tent in -30F weather. Just my parka and doubled sweatpants.

I need a vehicle by September, and even if I were to put down a deposit, it wouldn't arrive at dealer lot until November anyhow.

I searched nationwide using cargurus.com as I am willing to fly out. 2 days ago, there were 48 listings (across the TRD range), and yesterday, there were only 9 listings. There are new listings, however many of those vehicles are waitlisted and presold.

I called Mountain Toyota in Denver, and they told me that listing (white TRD OR) is so out of date as they haven't received a single manual Tacoma this year. And that vehicle was sold last year.

I just did an advanced search on Cars.com for new 2023 manual Tacoma's and it shows 138 currently available.

Now do that for access cabs.
