This maybe a possible engine for the 2023 Tacoma (use in the Lexus). The 2.4 Turbo engine.
“Scotty “ mentions on a video that aluminum and turbos do not last long? Due the heat.

It seems there are lots of Hotrodders using aluminum turbo engines?

My good friend in California was going to order the the 2023 Tacoma. But does not want the V-6 and the turbo engine.
He wants a new upgraded V-6 and maybe a 8-10 speed transmission? So he mentions maybe 2024?

2023 Tacoma is the same Powertrain as 2016 - 2022.

Did you mean to say 4th gen instead ? The 2023 model year Tacoma engines will be unchanged from the current 3rd gen configuration.

Why not wait for the plug in hybrid 2.4 turbo? I don't know if there will be any real advantage to a plug in hybrid. The next gen Tacoma could have a 3cyl turbo option. Ford will have a plug in hybrid turbo 4 Ranger before Toyota brings one to market, again I don't know if there is any advantage to a plug in hybrid. Maybe more mpgs, or range as the gas engine is still going to burn the same amount of fuel, and the hybrid is only supplementing gas engine.

"Scotty" is an idiot going after YT clicks, not trying to help. Saying shit like turbos and aluminum is a bad combo just goes to show how he is either going after clicks from the ignorant or how dumb he is.

Just read, No significant overhaul for 2023 Tacomas.
    2.7 4-cylinder or 3.6 liter V-6

May offer a Turbo charge 4-cylinder ( from Lexus NX 350)
Or the 2022 Tundra hybrid V-6
Coil springs in rear , for better rides, no leaf springs.
May also offer a upgraded Automatic transmission
And there will be higher pricing!
    Aloha

Yeah, someone should tell Ford before they get too invested that some dude on YouTube says it’s a bad combo.

2024 the 4cyl turbo is most likely. 4th gen BEV is the only confirmed powertrain. None of it in the 2023.

Scotty has a huge following, he is making lots of money on his web sites. Sometimes “fun” to watch.
For most of us, it is entertainment, every one can choose to listen to his advise. But always trust your instincts.

Scotty has a big following but I find him annoying and opinionated. His posts have become more and more far-fetched as of late (such as “xxxx motor company is going out of business!”).

I'm waiting for the diesel-electric option. You know, like trains have.

The advantage of a plug in hybrid is being able to do short trips, run errands, commute to work, without burning a drop of gasoline, and if you exhaust that range, you have an ICE to get you to where you need to go in traditional fashion. They're programmed to minimize engine use and maximize battery use. The newer ones will even pay attention to your navigation destination and act accordingly based on the roads planned.
My wife has an Audi plug in hybrid and the thing is absolutely brilliant. The cost per mile when running off the battery is less than half that of gas.
I am very much looking forward to a PHEV pickup truck to replace my Tacoma.

The "Car Care Nut" had a recent episode on the new turbo 4cyl in the Highlander with some good insight. He didn't mention the Tacoma though.
