I tried searching but I may not be using the right keywords. My truck recently (last two weeks or so) started playing bluetooth audio as if it's a phone call (which plays through different speakers). When I play Spotify, Apple Podcasts or iTunes through my phone, it shows I'm on a call with myself and it's phone call audio quality. I can't even use the radio unless I turn bluetooth off so it doesn't think I'm on a call with myself. Anyone else had this happen? Remedy?

Sorry about the dusty pic. Windows down on a dirt road wasn't the best idea.

My wife’s 2023 RAV4 had this same kind of issue as you’re seeing. Don’t know what caused it but the next time I turned the car on and off it started working normal again. Sorry I couldn’t help more.

    not enough.
hmm, restarting the car or the head unit doesn't do anything? long hold the left wheel until the head unit turns off and it'll turn back on again.

What app are you using to play BT audio? might also want to restart your phone. phone might be telling the head unit it's a phone call. any recent updates to any apps or phone OS's?

Thanks for the info, I'll try the reset today.

Doesn't matter the app. As soon as the truck turns on, the "call" begins unless BT is disabled on the phone. I did try restarting the phone but no luck. No OS updates that I can think of recently. However, I think this may have started right after toyota did a recent recall. It was for rear axle bolts but maybe they flashed/updated some software in the process? Either way I'll try restarting the head unit.

Head unit reset worked for a moment but after 30 seconds it went back to a phone call for BT audio. After that I reset the head unit, restarted the phone and deleted the truck as a one of my "devices" on my phone and paired it again. So far it has worked for two short drives.

good call on restarting all the affected devices. deleting and re-pairing is almost always my next step, and typically resolves most other weird issues i have from time to time. it probably wasn't even the recent service, it was just something funky that happened.

This happened to me when I first bought my truck. When I started my truck the head unit display would call my iphone, but my phone would not ring. I cleared all of the open apps on my phone before starting my truck and this solved the issue. Might be an iphone thing.

Update: It's definitely the phone. It works fine in the Tacoma now but my audio in my Raptor shows as a phone call now lol.

If it's an iphone, tap the blue i icon to the right of the device in the bluetooth settings and try changing around the device type to see if it makes a difference.
