    Hello....

while my SR5 DCSB 4x4 v6 is being built I should say dealer allocation truck being built

the only option coming with truck is the POI all weather floor mats with sill protectors

Dealer wants TWICE the amount to install these......

I'm ordering the mud guards and color door edge guards and possibly bed light kit when my truck comes in eta May 2023

Question 1 ? is the cargo/third brake light with driver side switch standard on SR5 V6 double cabs short beds? is so then led bed lights kit should be a snap.

Question 2 ? for those who have factory bed lights Do they turn on with locking and unlock of truck with key fob? or do I have to manually turn them on or off from the cab?

    Thank you
    Xbow

So far…. Added fog lights swapped halogens to led’s, interior lights to led’s, bed lights added, led/strobe brake lights, trying to figure out the right leds for turn signals.
If the third brake light has the cargo lights, then yes bed lights will be easy, and will function with the cargo light switch and with door lock/unlock.

IF you say I was hoping is was standard on the SR5 I can't confirm because my dealer has no Tacomas on the lot Nor can I read anywhere on the specs that it is.

I know trim level SR is bare bones but was hoping SR5 had it...

I know my sr5 came equipped with the cargo light, and I added the bed lights to the existing harnesses that were tucked behind the tail lamps. I would give you more info, but truck is at the body shop. I’ll be happy to show you what the window sticker says. This weekend I can run by my local dealer and see if they have any sr’s and if so what lighting they have.

I'm working with a 21 SR, I got the OEM blinker mounted fog light switch, ordered a front grill harness an like magic, fog lights work just like a factory install. So, thinking I'm pre-wired for bed lights too I ordered them, installed them, the wires are behind the brake lights, plugged in, installed OEM cargo light switch and nothing. The cargo light I ordered will not work either, missing the third wire, stuck with a regular 3rd brake light without a cargo light... what am I doing wrong, anyone know?

I believe 2020 and newer double cabs all come with the wiring in place to install the bed lights linked to the cargo bed light in the 3rd brakelight. I installed them on mine, simply unbolt a couple bolts per tailight, pop out the blank covers, and there's a pre-wired plug you can just plug each bed light into behind each tail light. Very easy install, all you need is a socket wrench and to watch a quick video to show how to pop the tailights out. When connected, the bed lights turn on/off with the cargo light using the rocker switch to the left and below the steering wheel. The lights can be set to stay on, stay off, or turn on/off with the interior lights when the doors are opened/closed.

I'd personally pass on the OEM all weather mats, especially if dealer is upcharging for them. My work truck has them, and I haven't been too impressed with how the thin rubber is curling on the edges and their lack of coverage over the sills and up into the footwells. I replaced the ones in my personal truck with Husky X-Act Contour mats within a month of getting my truck, and can highly recommend those over OEM (much thicker rubber and they cover much more of the footwells, so way less dirt gets into the carpets).

Yes, this thing has to many things that ought not be there and now, wtf, my plung n play oem switch plugs right in, the lights plug right in but nothing happening, does anyone know if there should be a relay or something? There is another wire w a plug under the dash, not plugged in , nothing to plug it in to, blue/white with black tracer, trying to keep everything as OE as possible.

I believe you are missing a relay (according to some install instructions I saw the other day when installing my lights)...

Suspecting the same thing, thanks, I'm so OCD that it irritates me to have wires not connected to accessories. I'm on a hunt now and will not stop until everything works.

Ok, figured out what I did WRONG!!, I did this from under the dash w a small flashlight. I had unplugged the traction control connector, thinking i had the right plug, removed the cargo lamp blank, inserted the cargo switch, then plugged the traction con back in, the whole time I had the wrong wire.... after reading every post on this subject I went back under there to check the fuse and checked my FAULTY work, realized my mistake, plugged in the loose cargo/bed lamp connector to my new switch and now it works either by switch and/or door. OEM INSTALL.... thanks for the help guys... SR/SR5 hybrid, going for the auto tail gate lock next.

Let us know how hard the lock is! I’m a little intimidated by that one, but I do love that you can do a lot of the work on these trucks without worrying about having to flash the computer every time…

The tail gate power lock looks simple as well.

sill plate and kick panel removal seem easy. then it’s plug play

Thanks, just bought it last night... should be a breeze...we will see. I also ordered the OEM trailer harness, got my eye on a oil and tyranny cooler, going aftermarket on the coolers as test results show far better cooling under loads... using it for the set of jet skis.
Off subject, does anyone know what this connector is for?under the dash ... 20230225_101419.jpg
