I’m looking for suggestions on a Grille swap. I’d like to take my factory grille and change it out for a Pro grille. Is it worth the money to get the OEM grille and Garnish? Please let me know and suggestions or recommendations. I would like to do it without a bunch of dash light coming on if possible

I bought an OEM grill and aftermarket garnish. Works well with TSS and all in was about $200 total.

I got mine from EmpyreOffRoad to include garnish. So far, no issues with TSS/DRCC or LDA.

Also since you have the front facing camera, I believe your only option is the OEM grill.

I swapped mine out for the Pro style grille a few months after I got the truck. It sounds like you have the OEM front facing camera, like mine, which really only leaves you with the OEM option. I used P/N:
PT228-35200-AA and ordered through my local dealer. They required me to supply them with a Tacoma TRD Pro VIN # and I was able to just give them one I found off a Cargurus.com -- no questions asked really (just don't let them see your truck in the parking lot :)).

It actually took me four attempts to get the right grille after I ordered it from three different dealerships. 3 of the 4 times it arrived fairly obviously scuffed up, which could just be the manufacturing process or shifting inside the box. Moral of the story; pick it up from a local dealer, inspect it the same day (so you can return it if you have to), and don't put it back in the box.

For the grille radar sensor garnish, I went with an aftermarket unit. I read that The Taco Garage had the most reliable one and so I went with theirs: .

You'll also need a new bracket for the camera so it mounts properly in the new location. I went with Westcott Designs' front camera relocation bracket (some bending of bracket necessary to get camera to line up perfectly): https://westcottdesigns.net/product/toyota-tacoma-front-camera-relocation-bracket/

Install wasn't terrible and I just followed some YouTube videos. No dash lights or errors for me after install and it's been working fine for the last few thousand miles. Good luck!

Thank you! Do you have any pictures of your grille with the aftermarket grille radar sensor garnish? Has your truck thrown any error codes? Also after you moved your camera did you have to recalibrate it?

No error codes or dash lights during install and none at all since I've been running it. No recalibration of the camera needed either.

If you need a camera mount Toyota sells one for a couple of dollars $3-4 depending on location. PT595-35210 Westcott is almost $30 after shipping.

FL_TRD Sport…..Did you have to do any trimming on your grille to mount the camera from Taco Vinyl?

Nope, not at all. Was all plug-n-play. If you order the grille with the camera mount they cut out the little piece of the grill for you before it ships. Was very clean. All you do is remove the two screws holding the camera onto the OEM bracket and cover, take the OEM cover off, put the camera into the Taco Vinyl bracket (which you can't mess up because it can only go in one way), and re-install the 2 screws. Their bracket is held in place by two of the screws that hold the Toyota insert on and there is a piece of 3M tape for additional security at the top that attaches to the top part of the grille. The entire camera part of the operation took all of 10 min.

Smith engineered….Hopefully you get your Grille and camera mount today! Can’t wait to see pictures. What did you decide to go with for the TSS sensor?
