I have a 2022 TRD off Road with the LED headlights, and the passenger side just crapped out. Called the deal and they want $1,000 for a replacement.

Shouldn’t the lights last longer that 2 years?

Anyone have and ideas on where to get a replacement that cost less?

Check the fuses first. Then the wiring.

Any signs of moisture inside the housing? If so, I'd document it and look for a warranty claim. The dealers have an argument for not replacong incandescent bulbs as wear items, but the LED headlight is a sealed unit, an early failure (assuming it's not a fuse or animal chewing on the harness) should be considered a lifetime part in my opinion (which is worthless).

the OEM LED lights are integrated. It’s for the whole headlight.

@esexx when you say the headlight, are you talking the whole thing (turn signal, parking lights, low/high beam) or is it just one part of that? If it’s everything, I’d check the ground. If it’s one of those, but everything else works, then check that specific circuit.

I did look around for moisture inside and look for any damaged wiring (or what I can see), thanks Toy_Runner, disconnected and reconnected it.

Drove to get coffee and figure out what do do…

I went to take a picture of the light, and it’s working now.

The only thing that didn’t work, was the low beam. Ever other light in the housing worked.

They should last a while, but they don’t always. It should be under warranty unless you’re past 36K.

That said, you can replace it yourself and the light discounted can be down to more around $6-700. As opposed to $1000.

Thanks. I thought they should last longer that 2 years.

Now, I know to be in the lookout for replacements when it eventually dies.

anyone have suggestions on where to get replacements?

If you have a meter, verify you have 12V on the blue wire. There are two blue wires, so it will be the one next to the yellow wire. Short of that, @BLtheP has the best suggestion.

Thank you! I do have a meter somewhere and will check later.

Thanks for the info. I would know which wire to check.

Most of them will last much longer than 2 years. But there are unfortunate cases, sounds like yours is one of them.

I bought mine from Sparks Parts. If history is any evidence, Toyota will probably do a Black Friday sale here soon. I’d try to wait and see if you can get it extra cheap from parts.toyota.com if you can. Probably will be cheaper than Sparks. But outside of a BF sale, Sparks is a solid option to buy from. Use chloekuo discount code for 5% off.

The OEM LED headlamp is significantly higher performance than the halogen lamp. Wider beam, better intensity gradient horizontally, higher intensity low beam. Only negative is that the lenses do not heat up, so they'll freeze up in icy conditions. And the color temperature is subjectively pretty blue, imo.

Toyotas lamps are quality items, an early failure of the lamp would be unusual. But you are correct, the extra performance does come at the tradeoff of replscing an entire lamp assembly if there is a partial failure.

double check the wiring from your raptor lights too.
All too often it's the aftermarket doodad installs that cause the problems.

I hope this is not a sign of what’s to come. I have a 2023 with OEM LED headlights approaching two years.
