2022 TRD Off Road, is this a front facing camera?

none so far, just getting started!
Howdy folks, I just purchased my 2022 TRD Off Road Tacoma a month ago. As I'm learning my way around the display system, the rear camera works great when I'm in R and backing up, but on the front grille, I see what looks like another camera mounted and it's wired up.

Now when I was looking at this vehicle at the dealer, the salesman didn't mention the front camera at all, and from the Toyota literature I only see the front camera as an option for the Tacoma Limited.

I don't see any buttons on the dash for "anytime" camera display, and I don't know if the TRD Off Road comes with a front camera, so can someone confirm if this is indeed an OEM front camera? And if it is, how do I view the front camera display on the multimedia screen?

Please refer to the two screen shots I provided.
    Thanks in advance!

No it’s not it’s a camera. That camera is in the windshield and radar behind the logo.

It is and was an optional package, advanced tech, check your mirrors should have cameras too just below. Otherwise this is an aftermarket or post purchase mod.

Bro! It is a camera/radar for your cruise control/forward braking/parking assist.

Definitely a camera. My TRD OR has adaptive cruise, brake assist/crash detection, and all of that is handled by the rear view mirror and sensor behind the Toyota oval. I do not have a camera like you seem to have.

Yep, TSS and all its features was brought in 2018 and standard, using the camera in front of your rear view mirror (triangle area tinted and box) and the radar behind the Toyota logo. 2020 mid cycle refresh brought about new options such as LEDs, and the new advanced tech package which included the front facing camera and camera in the mirrors.

Dude that's what we are telling you. Below the emblem what OP literally circled in red is a front facing camera for the optional advanced tech package and multi terrain view. TSS was standard 2018 and the camera for that is in front of your review mirror in the windshield like I freaking told you and you wanted to argue. This isnt rocket science. I literally posted a video showing said camera on an advanced tech package truck. Again your radar is behind the emblem for this and camera in front of the mirror in windshield, hence the "we need to recalibrate your collision sensor" when you replace your windshield mantra.

YES, THAT’S A FRONT FACING CAMERA.

There should be a “View” button somewhere around the dash. The camera is definitely OEM, It’s not an “anytime” camera, I forget the exact limitations but it should show you that view at least when you are stopped with the engine on. Or below 5MPh? Not sure…
That button has to be there somewhere.

Yup front camera. Look for a view button.

Seriously why are the taco buttons so haphazard. Why couldn't they be orderly like on other Toyota vehicles.

Yes, it's definitely a forward facing camera my 2023 has the advance technology package and that’s exactly what it is! Push your view button while in drive pulling up to any object and it will show you how close you are same as rear camera.

That's how they deny all the warranty claims!

    Thanks!

Thanks for replying!. :) Yes, I knew the "radar" sensor is that other piece wired in behind the Toyota logo.

The reason I queried about if this extra device is a camera is because I'm planning to replace the grille with the TRD Pro (or more likely an aftermarket version), and one of the questions asked when ordering one online is whether it requires the "garnish" - which I've know is for the radar sensor - and a front camera mount. And now I'm at the point trying to decide if I need the front camera mount?

The device definitely looks like a camera with an optical lens, just like the one on my tailgate handle mount. The thing that put it in doubt for me is I cannot find anything in the toyota manual (or online so far), how to view the front camera image on the display, what good is it if there's not display, right? So now I need to find the button for it.

    Thanks!, I appreciate the responses.
