Just got a Black 2022 Tacoma Nightshade and am essentially throwing my wallet at it.

ANYWAY I’ve had the truck two weeks and am trying to finish my essential mods before the wife sees the bank statements ofc

Wheels and tires are my current wonder. I actually really like the stock Nighshade Tires for daily driving but am debating replacing them with something more aggressive.

Anyway main question here! I heard these 18inch Nightshade Rims have a “skin” on them and have some pretty nice wheels underneath. Does anyone have a picture?

Is the TRD Pro Lift kit a joke? Seems stupid expensive?

 

Sounds like it might have been cheaper for you to pay the 7-10k addendum for the TRD Pro.

 

Possibly right. Though the wait was also what really made me go with a Nightshade.

That said I can use that money twords some aftermarket wheels and tires of my choice instead of the TRD Stock (though they are nice).

Only thing I’m really missing if I get a quality lift from a PRO is the locker though I don’t really off-road aside from trails.

 

Youre just paying for OEM markup. As neat as the kit is theres much better aftermarket options.

 

Dont waste your money on Toyota Floor Mats or Mudflaps of any sort - better quality and coverage elsewhere..

 

I can see that. I just had my dealer throw them in in negotiation. So for the price I can’t complain.

 

Grabbed the TRD Pro Slid plate for 340 shipped. I hope it looks good on the nightshade?!

 

why not just drive it for a bit, then mod

I enjoy customizing my Trucks. The main reason I got a Tacoma was to play with modding it.

Just for visual, here's the TRD skid plate on my 2021 Limited (black painted the plastic TRD emblem):

Today there is a huge gouge in it from some metal road object I ran over on the interstate.
Getting rid of the air dam was a big improvement in the front end looks.

But, I'd like to also know what the rims look like with the skins off. I'm just too lazy to try it without knowing.

How are you liking the contrast in color? Debating on powder coating it black or not?! Any front end pics?

I have a super similar build and completely agree. Only thing I’m debating on is the TRD Pro Lift (though the Nightshade grill is growing on me) and bigger tires.

But the stock Nightshade wheels and tires are pretty damn nice so idk.

 

These are awesome mods but you forgot the most basic and important these days. Cat shield. Talon or miller would be great. Better safe than sorry. Btw talons garage cat shield plays well with the trd pro. skid plate . It’s also 3/4 inch aluminum.

 

If they take my Cat then they just saved me time straight piping it.

I’ve always liked the contrast, but that being said, I got mine off CL and the PO had powder coated it black- less in your face for sure

I love the TRD Skid plate. My only concern is I’ve essentially made a poor man’s TRD Pro lmao

But yeah even coated Toyota Skid plates are very attractive and effective. Plus for the price if you can find a good deal they are essentially the same or cheaper then Aftermarket.
