Will be ordering a 2022 soon. Pre ordering is more like it.
But am trying to figure out what I want. (If I knew I would order tomorrow)
Have only driven a 2021 Sport. As new V6 SR's and SR5's are simply not to be found to test drive. And the only SR's on the lot's are stripped 4 cylinder work trucks.

My question is mainly about seat comfort, hwy comfort / susp.
The Sport seemed smooth, but am not sure how the other's compare.
Are the sport seats that much better over the SR5 seats?
I can always add shocks and sway bars to an SX or SR5,
Worked well on my last 2 Toyota trucks.

Has nothing to do with initial cost.
But long term the SR/SX has the least to go wrong. And would probably be the most cost effective to maintain. So, I added it to the list.

Ideally, I would want an SR/SX with SR5 exterior trim (don't need a fake hood scoop) . And Sport seats and susp. LOL LOL

Am sure this has been asked before. But did a search, and it did not jump out at me.

Have been driving my last one for 27 years now. Nothing wrong with it. Just time for a new one.

Thanks (Price quotes below from the Toyota 2021 website)

SR SX V6 (Unicorn) a V6 SR5, only real diff, is no power seat. And 7" screen. $30715.00
    SR.png
    V6 SR5 $32550.00 +$1835.00 over the SR SX V6 Plus: Elect seat and trim package..(has 8" screen)
    sr5.png
    Sport $3260 Over the SR5 $ 35810.00

Imo, the seats have little to do with the trucks ride. Its more how the suspension is calibrated. I can tell you coming from a gen1 tundra that rode plush compared to the sr5 tacoma, took a bit of getting use to. After some 5k miles it'll ride better, but it will never be my old tundra. I'm guessing changing the shock's in the sr5 may help some, but imo these trucks are spung fairly stiff.

Thanks. 2 questions really. Seat comfort on a long trip. And susp. Hwy smoothness and cornering.

I believe power seats are only on SR5 and above.

My SR5 access cab has the electric driver’s seat. I don’t believe the SR trim gets that. So that may help with seat comfort. I think the Sport and SR5 models get the same basic seats with different fabric. I can’t speak to the suspension differences between the SR5 and Sport as I’ve never driven the Sport. Good luck!

I think that is correct. I have a 2020 SR5, which is the year they added the power seat. It’s great. I find it very comfortable. I would upgrade to the SR5 at least to get the seat, intermittent wipers, and body colored molding.

Yes, SR does not have a power seat. But is it the same seat otherwise?
Will probably not get the SR/SX but do like that it does not have the "Rear Parking Assist Sonar180" and blind spot monitor.
That just seems like a PITA to me.

Leaning towards the SR5. Not sure I can warm up to the fake hood scoop on the sport..

Surprising what the V6 SR now comes with though, "Variable Intermittent and Mist Windshield Wiper Control, Heated Power Outside Mirrors,Deck Rail System, Front Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control (V6 only), Tilt/Telescopic Steering Wheel With Audio Controls, Sliding Rear Window With Privacy Glass, SX for $840 16" black alloy wheels (like the SR5) , over fenders, mirror caps, door handles, headlight bezels. "

    2021 price differences:
    SR/SX V6 $30715
    SR5 $32550
    Sport $35810

I think it’s the same basically, but the adjustability removes the complaints I have heard about for the regular version (such as needing seat jackers). I never had the non-power version myself though.

My SR5 doesn’t have the rear parking assist or blind spot monitor, is that new?

So, looks like a base (no xtra options) SR5 with black wheels.
Wish I could see what it looks like in Lunar rock. (Not sure I would still love it in 10 yrs though)
But like the 85 SR5 4X4 and 95 T100 I purchased new, will probably just go white with grey int.
    Hard to beat combo.

Why not an OR Access Cab, it would have the same seats as the Sport but a softer suspension?

Looking for 2 wheel drive only. TRD OR no longer offered in 2WD.
My son has a 2000 TRD Prerunner. 300k miles. Runs great.
But is no longer an option.

I could definitely stand a little more thigh support in my SR.

Love my SR5. The bigger screen and interior finishes plus the power seats are worth it.
Looked at the SR, looked at the SX Package, settled on the SR5.

Oh, big plus as well, you actually get a KEY - not some fob that can fail.

For seat comfort just pickup some kind of butt-saver, I have them in driver and passenger seats and
    what a difference it makes.

I am glad my truck has a key too, not against the push button start but simply prefer the key.

Yea after 50 years of using a key, I mean it's like, why mess around with something that works.

I've got the power seat in my 2020 sr5. I thought it was not nearly as comfortable as the seat in my 2001 tundra...both were cloth fabric seats. Its the suspension in these tacoma trucks being noticeably calibrated stiffer.

Seems the following year these sr's get all the stuff the sr5 had before. Gotta wonder if the price of those sr's are now what the sr5's were.

It is very subjective. Some people don't feel any difference between a base model and a top of the line model, no matter what the seat and suspension setups are. It's just not that big a difference to where we can say we love one and hate the other. I am in that group. A truck is a truck. I don't expect it to ride like a Mercedes, so I am okay with whatever I get.
Then there is the other group who is more sensitive to the differences and the slightest difference can make or break the deal. Nothing wrong with that either; it's okay to want to like what you are spending a bunch of money on.

Bottom line is; nobody can really answer that question. You will have to search different dealers until you find the ones you want to test drive and then come to your own conclusion.
