Forgive my ignorance. I have searched and read many times that the largest tire for stock suspension (21 pro) is 265/75/16 @31". Including this definitive and locked thread on the matter:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/largest-tacoma-tire-sizes-on-stock-suspension.67550/

Thats cool. but im also reading multiple threads with users saying they achieve 285/75/16 or 32.8" on their stock pro without rubbing.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ko2-on-2022-trd-off-road.749086/#post-26680914

    So. Which is correct? both?
I would like to go as large as possible while staying stock pro

265/75/16 is your best bet if you don’t want to trim or do a cab mount chop.

I’ve run both sizes, 285s did give me some rub when going over larger bumps. Some guys say they don’t get rub, but don’t be surprised if you do and need to trim some.

    here’s a pic of the 265/75/16s

You can also consider 255/85/16 (33.1")

No KO2 in that size tho

Thank you for that. I appreciate your experience in trying both.

265 looks great on your truck. I'm also going with K02s.

Here’s with +2” in the rear and +1” in the front with 285s

I saw this also, but honestly have little wheeling experience. Which is preferable for wheeling in CA dirt and sand? A 265 or a skinny 33?

I'm not sure there would be a huge difference other than a little more clearance with the 33s. I did a the Westcott perch lift and an AAL with 285s

There are a number of threads where 2020 and 2021 Pro owners stayed completely stock and put on 285/75R16’s without rubbing.
I got a 2022 Pro about a month ago, and based on a number of these experiences that I read about, felt really good about putting 285’s on mine since the 2022 Pro is a little more lifted than the 2021 and has some minor suspension upgrades including a billet UCA.
Well, I put 285’s on and it rubbed just a tad on the UCA at full lock. I think the new 2022 UCAs stick out just a little further than the 2020 and 2021 suspension parts.
I worked with Motorsport Tech, and got some .75” Bora spacers that fixed the UCA problem just fine, but created a little rubbing on the front of the driver side fender well and the rear of the passenger side fender well. Did a little cutting and heat gunning, but still have a little rub in reverse on inclines, but probably done messing with it.
I think the bottom line is that every truck is different, and everyone will have different ideas about how to approach and fix whatever the problem is. Some will rub and some won’t, but from what I’ve read and experienced, I think you have a better chance of fitting 285’s on a 2021 Pro than on a 2022 Pro with no initial rubbing.
I didn’t want a lot of wheel poke, so it was really important for me to minimize the spacer size. I’m happy with how it looks and functions now, but didn’t expect to have to do all that I did based on what I had previously read. The guys at Motorsport Tech are the best; really good at what they do and provide excellent customer service.

I also considered (and still am) a Wescott lift. Have a buddy with one as well; super good product and well made and thought out.

wow that looks great. same rack i have ordered as well.
stupid question, but im going to assume that the wescott lift kit would void a warranty repair or rebuild?

Thank you for guys the words of wisdom and helping me not buy twice and cry twice.
I think im going for the 265/75/16 for this set, and just bank on the warranty for the time being.

265/75/16 is really more of a 32” tire. Usually 31.6-31.8.

    My word of advice:
Get the Eibach springs for the Pro or a 1/2” top plate spacer in the front, get a progressive AAL in the rear, and go 285s. You’ll probably do it eventually and it’ll save you money

I told myself I wasn’t going to lift mine but… I ordered the Westcott collar and Headstrong AAL last weekend.

I ran 285 70 r16’s. No rubbing at all at stock ride height. I eventually installed the westcott kit, to me it looks better with a mild lift, but I didn’t need to do it.

Not a pro but I’m running 265/75r16 ultra terrain in a E load. 2” lift to give you an idea.
