2021 TRD-OR engines, which one?

Howdy, I’m new to the neighborhood.
I’m looking at 2021’s and am curious what engine to target ?

The 3.5 V6 Direct Injection Atkinson Cycle or the 3.5 V6 DOHC 24 valve Direct-Injection Atkinson Cycle with VVT-iW and VVT-I?

There is only 1 v6 in 3rd gens and that's the 3.5 2GR-FKS

only 2 engine offered in the tacoma. one 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder.

 

Check out page 27 of this PDF. These two engines have been available throughout the 3rd Gen years.

And you can only get the v6 in a trd trim so the only choice you can make in terms of power train is auto or manual tranny

I've seen hundreds and hundreds of V6 3rd gen SR5 and Limiteds......

 

I'd LOVE to see why they put that out there unless it's a way to get another ''$1500 or more'' for the ''upgraded'' engine for the ignorant new taco buyer.

 

Oops, I meant the trd trims only come with the v6, they can't be optioned with a 4cyl

Awkward syntax. If you get the TRD models, the 3.5 is the only engine option. At the lower trim levels, both the 4 and 6 cylinder are available.

 

Page 13 of this PDF makes it clearer what engines are available on the various trims. Note, no Pro was offered in 2016.
