2021 Tacoma TRD Pro Gas mileage

Hi guys.

My stock 2021 Tacoma pro's gas mileage is very bad which around 14mpg. I drive very normal including freeway. Any one have same issue?

That's fairly normal.
50/50 city/highway I get 15-16 stock OR.

 

2021. I'm guessing you aren't even through the break in period yet. It'll improve after that, although winter fuel doesn't help.

TRD OR and I get 17 including a 10 minute warm up. I've seen as high as 23 regularly in the summer on the same route.

Also check tire pressure, a few pounds makes a huge difference, but the more you fill the stiffer the ride will be, and you can overinflate to the point of excess tire wear.

Switch the rear diff oil over to synthetic; I bet what’s in there is RIPE

 

Wait till you take a road trip,all highway, 20s is decent commuting considering you're driving a truck built more for off-road. As long as gas stays low, we'll be good, but I'm scared....

 

My '06 Taco (Gen 2 4.0V6 MT) averaged 14.5 in the first 16 months (to end of 2007). It gradually crept up to 16.4 by the end of November 2014 when it went in for a new frame (64K on the odo). This year's average (so far) is at 16.9 MPG with 127K on the odometer. As you might suspect, I'm extremely anal about monitoring my fuel mileage.

As RedWings44 noted, it ain't hardly broken in yet. It will improve if your driving skills develop toward conserving fuel AND if your mods don't have an adverse effect on fuel economy. Now granted my Taco has a larger engine that was not rated too highly with respect to fuel economy. Your 3.5V6 (assumed) should do better.

What speeds are you running? If you use cruise, which cruise control are you using? Those two are the biggest factors of poor fuel economy for these trucks on the hey.

 

Clean your MAF sensor. When change plugs? 30k?

 

It's a 2021 lol.

Trucks get bad mileage. You could by an air splitter from a 2016-21 SR5 or Sport model to help gain a bit of mileage.

I've been getting a pretty consistent 19 MPG. My driving on a tank of gas is typically 75% Freeway, 25% city. In a few weeks I'll be taking my Taco on it's first out-of-state road trip and I'm curious to see what sort of mileage I get then.

 

I drive very normal , I did not use cruise control , city and highway combined

 

I average 15-16 mpg on my Pro

 

Winter gas doesn't help at all! Ill typically loose 3-4mpg when they switch over from summer to winter gas mix. With that said if I get 18mpg in the winter its a good day.
