I was wondering if anyone knows any mounts to mount two diode dynamics ss3 behind the grill of my Tacoma. I was looking at the mount from bay area fabrication, but after emailing Jerry, he said that I would have to drill, and I do not want to do that. I also saw these mounts,
I also thought of making a mount using the holes on the grill support pictured below. Let me know your thoughts and or solutions. Thanks

Drill what? Several are running the BAMF mount on 2nd and 3rd Gen and it is bolt on as far as I am aware. I had it for my 2nd Gen.

To quote him on an email he sent me " You will have to move the horns most likely, and drilling is required to install. "

Yes, horns will need to be moved. Pretty certain the drilling statement in inaccurate though. Let me see if I can find photos.

Edit: Well search seems fubar'd right now. So will have to wait till it is functioning again.

Where did you relocate your horns to?

Here is an image. I don’t recall the details, but there was no drilling, we just bolted them to an existing location. You can see the horns on the far right. This is a 2015 2nd Gen.

Thank you this is what I was looking for. I have the 23 model so I look into the similarities.

2nd and 3rd Gen are very similar in chassis. I’d expect you’d be able to do the same/similar.

I have a BAMF mount with DD SSC3. Simple bolt on with supplied hardware. Works great on my 2021 OR.

I did cut out two "windows" of the grill material in front of the light pods. I use them as aux high beams

Curious why you ended up cutting the grill, spread of the lights from the grill was off?

The grill was blocking quite a bit of the light (maybe 2 of the 4 emitters). This opened it up to let the light shine. Took roughly 20 minutes with a fine tooth hacksaw blade and then cleaned it up with a dremel to do both sides. It makes a big difference with the DD SSC3 Pro (4K) driving lens. I recall something funky with the horns but can't remember if I rotated the horns 180 degrees or wiggled things around them. Couldn't have been much of an issue if I can't recall it.

Old pic..but i did basically the same thing with a custom made bracket. 4000k ss3 pros slightly angled out. Being the same height as the headlights they throw far down the road. Tapped the high beam with a relay for ease of use.

After looking at all the posts I decided To make my own bracket. 73169CF8-CC7A-4834-BACE-1219C28CAD62.jpg9CB2054D-B688-4329-8707-CCA6D5AC25ED.jpg

I made a few plates to sandwich my plastic grill and drilled a hole through them. That allowed me to mount the SS2's onto my inside grill. Used a dremel to hollow the Pro "style" grill to allow most light output.

Do you have more details/pictures of how you did this? I really like how yours turned out and am wanting to the same.

Cut/dremel the grill rectangles out and file down the inner walls to make it look smooth. The Dremel melts the plastic and curd up.
    PSX_20230108_123647.jpg
I cut 4 rectangle aluminum plates to sandwich the plastic that the lights are resting on. This provides stability and prevents the plastic to crack/break. Think of it as big washers. I decided to mount them closest to the grill, to prevent light blockage. Drilled holes sized similar to the provided SS2 bolts.

Before mounting, I placed window sealant between the plates for added dampening to prevent crack/wear onto the grill plastics.

Spray the washer plates black, so it won't become an eye sore.

    Good luck!!
