I just bought a new 21 SR5 that I’m wanting to beef up a bit. Was thinking on a 3inch toyotec suspension lift. I’m debating on the wheel now, but most likely will be a 17X9 -12. What tire, and tire size would you recommend? Any huge drops in MPG? Sluggish power? Thanks.

Nice looking truck! I like that grille. Let me know if you ever think about selling it! :D

For wheels, maybe Method. For tires, 33" Toyo AT3 is what I went with and really like. I did the regear to 4:88 to make up the power difference. I really like the Dobinsons MRA suspension, but might de a bit more than Toytec. GL!

The sr5 is a nice 4wd truck that capable of both on, and off highway driving as is. Don't screw it up by lifting it, and installing tire's that weren't meant to be on it.

They’re practically the same truck? Different stock shocks, same motor, trd has a few more fancy buttons, I don’t off-road, I use 4wd for hunting if needed, just going for looks.

That looks good! Did you do any regear? Been seeing a lot on that for people who up their tires to a 33.

Trd has a different differential for more serious off road use. I didn't want one after seeing how a buddy screwed up his 2019 trd with a 3'' lift and 33'' tires. Truck had way more vibrations than it did stock, had no power, and rode like a lumber wagon. After he returned it to bone stock it was hard to tell the difference in ride compliance from my 2020 sr5. Even after he put the trd back to stock it had some weird vibration at various speeds, and didn't have the same power output my sr5 has. Imo, unless your considering more serious off road capability the trd wouldn't be my first choice.

Thanks. There’s so many debates it’s hard to decide. Seen a lot of people say if you plan on going to a 33 regear is a must, then I’ve saw some that have said just a tune helped just fine. I won’t go any bigger than 33s and 17s

A tune is all you need.
If your adding a bunch of weight regear would be fine.
    Doesent sound like you are

All i can say is i've kept my truck bone stock except for changing over to a new set of 265/70 16 a/t tires i had for my tundra. No tune needed, or having to run a crazy higher octane fuel, the truck runs great.

If you get a skinny 33 like a 255/80r17 I don't think regearing is necessary unless you drive fast

Those larger tires kill your fuel mileage. Full size trucks will get better gas mileage.

I bought a 2021 SR5 last july and aftet a couple months decided to put a TRD lift kit on it (2"front 1" block). Lift Kit is basically Bilstein 5100s colored red which I think are the same as the trd offroad but in a higher notch. And it came with a heritage grill.

I also upgraded my 16" Wheels to 17" TRD pro Sema wheels, which meant new tires too. Stock tires were 245/75/16 and upgraded to 275/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks.

I will say the truck feels a little heavier but I like that. My old truck was a Nissan Titan and going from that to a stock tacoma felt weird for the first few months. Now it feels like driving a Truck again

That looks good! Mine came with 265/70r16. Just wanting a bit more beefy look. It certainly looks good as is, but if I’m going to switch wheels to a 17 I might as well get it all.

Thanks. The wheels I’m looking at are 17x9 so a 10 wide tire would work, not looking for a 12.5

I have to second this. I agree. People get so hell-bent on “looks” and they end up sinking thousands into their vehicle only to have it end up costing them more money and driving worse in the long-run. It’s your truck and you can do whatever you please, but just know that when you start messing around with large tires and replacing the factory suspension, you are going to end up with reliability issues down the road. I drove lifted Jeeps and trucks for nearly 2 decades and I am d.o.n.e., done. I’d tint the windows, throw a tonneau cover on it and be done with it. That’s just my opinion.
