Hello, I got a quote for an out the door price of an SR5 access cab for $36,921 and an SR double cab for $31,900.

For $5k difference, I don't really need the electric seat adjustment, 1 inch bigger screen, and nicer tires...and the SR comes with a full seat in the back not the access cab.

Am I missing something else about how much better the SR5 is?

$5k sounds like a big difference for essentially a convenience package, especially going down in cab size (usually 1k cheaper).

Is there something glaringly different between the two, like 4wd vs 2wd, or 6 cyl vs 4 cyl?

Second that. The SR5 quote does not include TTL? If not, and depending on your location, is a bit high if not 4WD.

We can't answer this without more information about what's included in each package.

I will say that if the SR5 Access Cab is being offered for $36,900, you can move up to a TRD for less than $1,000 more. That would definitely be worthwhile.

should be able to get a TRD OR for 36,900. I paid 36,800 for my OR DCSB 4x4 before tll. I had a 2020 SR5 4x4 DCSB and regretted not getting the OR. (smart key, off-road features etc). I would shop around before buying at those high prices.

So, are you comparing the access cab (SR5) with the double cab (SR)? Not an apples to apples comparison. I would figure out if you want the double cab or the access cab. The access cab will have the longer bed, the double cab may or may not. Do you need the full back seat? Once you know which cab you want, then you can really compare.

I chose the SR5 because I wanted the adjustable seat and I really wanted the fog lights for the rural roads that I drive. I know you can add fogs to the SR, but I didn't want to have to do that. I also like the leather-wrapped steering wheel of the SR5. The SR does do away with the chrome bumper, and interior chrome delete (I think) which is cool in my opinion. Honestly, if the SR had standard fog lights, I would have been happy to drop down a trim level to save the cash. I replaced the wheels anyway, so that didn't factor into my decision.

And, like others have said, we aren't sure if both of these trucks are 4X4. You really can't compare fairly if one is 2WD and the other is 4WD. Also, are both of these trucks V6? The 4-cylinder is a very different driving experience. It really comes down to budget and whether you value the options to spend more to move up a trim level.

There's so many acronyms on here I don't know what 90% of them mean. The $34k SR5 looks cool until everything else is added on and it becomes $37,000. So a $36,000 TRD actually becomes $40k. I don't know what TTL is or DCSB

For that cost did the sr5 come with the higher technology package? My 2020 sr5 access cab included, a sliding electric rear window, tonneau cover, plus the fender flares, and mud guards for the tires. I included several other dealer options to be added on. Granted it was higher than your old price when all said, and done, but its what i wanted this truck to have this time vs all my trucks that didn't come this way in the past.

The salesguy wasn't very knowledgeable or helpful. I asked what the difference was between the SR and SR5 and he said fog lights, tires, and electric chair. I asked about a bigger screen and he said no, but it definitely was bigger. He didn't try very hard at all, didn't show me anything about the truck. Just said let's go inside and draw up the paperwork, and I said no thanks.

I almost bought the sr, for the cost, but ended up convincing myself being use to having all sr5 trucks in the past, i'd be experiencing some shortcomings the sr wouldn't have. I guess once your use to having something its hard to do without...especially as you get older.

SR5 is better seats, fog lights and chrome everywhere. Not worth an extra 5k. Check out a SR access cab with the SX package. SX is wheels and black out, no chrome. Got my new 2020 for $30,600 OTD was $32,700. Came with many options too. Preditor steps, bed lights, bed mat, black chrome tip, mud flaps and weather mats.20201201_091557.jpg

Bummer about your salesman. I'm sure there are others at his dealership or other local dealerships who are willing to be more helpful. I found it pretty convenient to shop online, also. Saves a ton of time and it's really easy these days. Just be prepared for a lot of emails. I think researching/shopping is part of the fun of getting a new truck.

I'd recommend doing more research about the different trim levels, bed and cab configurations, tech, off-road gear, etc. Once you've made an honest assessment of what is most important to you, then start the hunt for the best deal. Maybe you'll decide that the extras on the TRD models are worth it to you. Maybe the SR will fit your needs and you'll feel better about keeping cash in your pocket. Maybe the SR5 is a good compromise between the two. Good luck and keep us posted on where you end up.

When i ordered my 2020 taco, i asked the dealer about getting much of that stuff in an sr....they told me no way would i get the electric sliding rear window, tonneau cover, fog lights, chrome rear bumper, led bed lights, or even other interior features. I could care less about a chrome exhaust tip. I have the predator steps pictured along with the bed mat, weather floor mats, and sill protectors.

SR to SR5 is a bigger step than SR5 to TRD. SR5 has some electronic information display that is too much a hassle to install later on the SR. Or at least when I bought mine

agree that SR to SR5 is a huge step...SR5 to TRD is more about cosmetic upgrades.
