2021 Off Road tail light: minor confusion w/colors & part numbers

So, my passenger side tail light got tickled and I'd like to replace it with the exact same one. I looked at the official parts.toyota.com website, added all of my info, and it led me to this:

However, that's not what my tail light looks like, color-wise. Mine has areas with chrome and (smaller) areas of dark gray (see attached photo).

So, I'm wondering: is the photo on the above website generic and if I order it I'll get one with the chrome and dark gray areas? Or, should I be looking for a different part number?

 

The one you linked is definitely not the correct light you're looking for.

That part number matches what I ordered to get rid of the 2020+ TRD chrome lights. They're the ones that came on 2018/19 TRD trucks.

ETA: I believe the correct number to be 81550-04220.

Ah, maybe? Unfortunately, there's no photo to help me confirm ( https://parts.toyota.com/p/78762358/81550-04220.html ). It also mentions "LED", but these are just three regular bulbs.

Oh wow, nice find! Based on that information, I have either the 81550-04210 or the 81550-04220. I'll admit it's hard to see the difference (to my eyes, at least).

 

It looks like the 04220 is chrome instead of grey between the red and reverse light versus 04210, which would match the Limited trim aesthetic.

I was trying to go off descriptions on Toyota part websites but they're very vague.

 

I'm definitely leaning towards the 04210, but man I'd love to know for sure before I pull the trigger and wait a few days. I can't find a part number on the unit itself — I removed it and have been scouring it for numbers like these, but no luck.

Yeah, I have it off and sitting next to me as I hunt around the internet. There are a few spots on the back of it that have words/numbers, but none of them are remotely close to "04210" or "04220", etc.

 

I'm leaning towards that one as well after finding that post with pictures.

 

I think I'll order the 04210 and, if it ends up being wrong, utilize the return policy. I appreciate your help, @pjtx808.

 

Well, it's official, my taillight is the 81550-04210. I went to my local dealership, saw it first hand, talked them down $60 ($210 -> $150) and grabbed it. Installed it this morning and it's chef-kiss.jpg
