So yesterday I hopped into my truck that has been parked for a few weeks now that was plugged in and backed up about 10ft with the block heater cord still attached. It broke the plug housing and hinged cover flap . It still functions and you can’t really tell but it’s going to bug the shit out of me inevitably.

Does anyone know if the broken components are replaceable or would you have to order an entire new block heater cord and plug in?

    Any info appreciated.

Ebay it. Defa inlet cables go for $40-50, easier than contacting the dealer for a weird proprietary part.

I'd reach out to DEFA (defa.northamerica@defa.com) with a pic of your outlet and ask if they could help you out.

Thanks guys, got in touch with DEFA and they provided a part number to replace the inlet cable from a Toyota or Action car and truck.

    Toyota part #PK5A4-89J32
    Action part #DEF463212

I have repeatedly forgot to unplug my cord, like at least 3 times in two years. My inlet broke in the exact same way shown in this picture, the bottom part snapped off (also superficially cracked the surrounding trim). The block heater itself has continued to work fine, and I actually just had the dealership inspect it a few days ago and they said it still working fine and looks normal beneath the truck.

Just to be clear, are you ordered a replacement inlet or cord? If you end up ordering the replacement inlet, post up the cost as if it's an cheap and easy fix I'd replace mine too.

I will have to order the inlet and cord as one. They don’t offer a replacement part for the piece I broke.

I’m going to get in Touch with Toyota and Action car and truck today to confirm pricing as I cannot find it online. I’ll keep you updated.

On another note in regards to forgetting to unplug block heater cord. This is the second time I have done that myself but it’s not uncommon to do so. We have a fleet of 37 or so Taco’s, runners, tundras, and FJ’s at work. Most of our Tacos and all of our 4Runner have the same plug system of course so we’ve had a pile of guys drive away without disconnecting the plug. One guy drove 2.5 hours without noticing and somehow the cable stayed connected the whole way, another guy took a 20ft extension cord with him, and there’s been a few that busted plug outlets and the inlets on the trucks but none have ever quit working so we’ve never bothered to fix them.

We have the same inlet and block heater setup on our 21 Rav4 as well. My wife backed out of the garage with it, cord unplugged from the wall outlet but stayed in the inlet on the front of the vehicle. She made it all the way across town. First time she turned left the cord went under the wheel, cracked the inlet and basically stripped the outer sheath off the cord lol, that thing was mangled. In my area the replacement cords were backordered for like a month which sucked - thankfully we had another cord from the Tacoma.

Awesome truck btw. Love the wheel/tire lift combo, don't even want to guess what that ran you. I'm Canadian too, so nothing is cheap lol.

Oh man, yeah that’s a bummer. Those super early -30 mornings are usually when it happens haha. Our dealership has also been backlogged on cables and battery’s since January.

Thanks man! Yeah our Canadian peso is slowly killing me. I’m in SK so everything is via freight as we don’t have any Toyota specialty shops within 800km. It’s brutal.

I don't have a block heater (not cold enough here), but I do have a port for a battery charger/maintainer. I use this sign on my seat to help me remember to unplug it before driving off. I obviously failed art class.
