    Hello all,

I'm a new happy member of this group and of a new 2020 Tacoma TRD Sport Premium in Barcelo Red color. I added some BF K02s and TRD Rims to the beast as well since I'm a big fan.

Even though my truck will arrive next month (Toyota Factory reopening), I would like to know your guys experience off-roading with this model? I'm not a very serious Overlanding person, but like to go camping in backroads, or usually use them in the winter season to reach good skiing spots.

Thank you all for your input.

Sport will do just fine, its still a truck, still has the same departure/approach angles, you already addressed the biggest issue which is tires, doubt you'll need a rear diff or CC for what you're doing and honestly 98% of people here don't either, congrats on the new ride!

That is exactly what I was thinking, especially considering the truck has 4x4, but wanted to check with more Tacoma knowledgeable people. :)

All good man. I've had a few sports and wheeled them, even a 2wd prerunner in the NJ sand pits, I get it though, looking here you'd think anything besides a TRD OR is incapable.

    welcome aboard

My truck does fine offroad. As long as I don't screw things up with poor jugement calls or asshattery.

If it’s not the TRD SPORT OFF ROAD (4x4) just avoid deep sand/mud/dirt/snow and rock climbing.
But just recreational mild off-road trails. You’ll be fine. The Tacoma’s are the leading off road trucks on the market

Yeah, mine is a TRD Sport Premium 4x4 one. Better judgment will be applied always. I have been stuck with my Xterra 4x4b before in very deep snow, not good. Trucks are awesome, but the mind behind the wheel needs to have a good judgment.

    Beautiful Truck, congrats.

Do you see any issues taking that extra piece below the front bumper that comes with stock Tacomas? I can foresee that getting destroyed off-roading in the near future.

Yep, always was a big Toyota fan. I always wanted a 4Runner, but Tacomas conquered my heart.

Yes. I feel that is going to be the first thing I will do when I park the truck at my garage. With the suspension going up and down in dirty road, that will get destroyed.

I took it off. Extra clearance and to show off the TRD SKID PLATE I PUT ON. It’s mainly cosmetic. Some ppl say it’s for increased MPG. Nah. MAYBE 1MPG. The gas killer is big tires with the lift

Nice, good to know. Considering all the extras that I added already in the purchase (Predator Tube Steps, Bed Mat for the trunk, Tube-Style All-Season Floor Mats, TRD Rims, KO2 Tires (265/75R16), Platinum Protection Package and Leer Canopy), will need to wait for a little bit, but TRD skid plate is next for sure.

First Tacoma. Brother are you in for a treat! These trucks are badass. Hold 75% resale value after 3 years and run FOREVER. You came to the best Tacoma site and you’ll save tons of money and get a lot of help here. Before you mod your truck go on here first. Plenty of bro’s have bought crappy and great things to mod their truck. Learn from their mistakes and pick our brains. And if you run into little quirks... post a question before going to the dealer and chances are we can trouble shoot for you. Examples. My passenger side airbag indicator light was on with no passenger. So before I took it to dealer I came here. Someone asked what was on my seat I said my lunch box and clipboard he said take it off and the light will go off it’s registering weight he was right. Some people say they hear a noise that sounds like jingling or a chain if you hear that noise when you’re going over bumps it’s your spare tire chain underneath the truck that’s moving around. Easy stuff we’ve all experience so welcome !

..and with a Tacoma your extra options are endless
