I avg close to 15.4. It’s actually really close to what I would get with my 1st gen double cab 4x4 with the 3.4l v6. I was really hoping to get over 18mpg like I did with my 2nd gen double cab 2wd.

If I hammer it I’m getting 12-14mpg. I try my best to hyper mill but I do more city driving than highway. My range is close to 280 that’s with 70% and 30% freeway.

I’m guessing the guys getting 350+ range are 2.7 engines and not the 3.6:notsure:
I get pretty much 17 flat but I’m on 33’s and haven’t had my speedometer adjusted FWIW
I have the KDmax tune (which is awesome!) and my mileage maybe increased a 1/2 mile but I’m not to worried about it cuz I figure it’s not going to stop me from driving the way I want:D A lot of guys get much better mileage w/ the KDmax but I wouldn’t expect it from a performance tune.
    Also I get about a 280 range as well:thumbsup:

    You all make me jealous.

After I fill to tippy top my dash says 275 miles to empty. My dash says 10.5 mpg average. I will preface that by saying all I drive is local roads with stop lights. I rarely go highway. I only have 2500 miles on it in the last 10 months. I have 33’s and a lift. And I floor it a lot because I love the loud exhaust.

To be honest I don’t care about MPG. It does seem like I am always filling it up though.

    It's a secret
As long as you're within 200mi from a gas station, don't worry too much about tank distance...you will at least make it to the next station to fill up.

You can admit that just like the rest of us, you got the Taco because you can afford it ...or rather, you will do what it takes to afford it.

I get 16mpg and also see a ~293 mile range displayed after fill up. Which would equate to about 18 gallons of tank capacity, which is about right (minus a couple for wiggle room).

There's nothing to reset, there is no problem. That's an accurate estimate based on your tank's capacity and your fuel efficiency.

It's a rough estimate based on the mileage the truck has previously returned.

Have you run the truck to empty yet (or to a reasonable/safe approximation, ie: 1/8-1/4 tank) to see what your actual range is?
Again realize, this ROUGH ESTIMATE is not based on running the tank dry. It is a SAFE distance you can expect to travel before you should start looking for a gas station (ie: 1/8 to 1/4 tank remaining).

I personally find the tech in the truck to be amazing. The accuracy of the MPGs is pretty damn cool, considering the 'technology' of 80s-90s cars.

It’s a Tacoma, not a Prius. Toyota makes 2 kinds of vehicles, those with and those without good gas mileage. The trucks/SUVs (no surprise) have “not good” gas mileage. I never pay attention to the number because it simply doesn’t matter. Drive the truck until the needle gets close to empty and fill it back up. Rinse and repeat. There’s no fathomable reason (in my opinion) to pay attention to gas mileage on a truck, it just is what it is. If you are that worried about gas mileage or trying to drive from SF to LA on a single tank, I would strongly consider a new vehicle that’s built for good gas mileage. My wife’s Outback is what we take on most road trips because that thing sips on gas on long trips compared to my Tacoma.

That is pretty bad mileage you must drive it hard. I get 9.9-10.2 liters per 100 km. Which I think is pretty good. You live in BC you must be up and down mountains a lot.

The "miles to empty" displays are probably the most useless feature put on newer vehicles. Ignore it and just drive the truck

I know for sure that when it hits empty mark I can go another 100 KM or 60 Miles only happened once and found that out.
On empty I usually have 12-14 ( 2-3 gallons ) liters left in the tank.

I have a 2021 Pro. I only drive on the highway once a week or so... but I get about 286 per tank. 10k miles on it so far.

My fuel economy is almost spot on what Toyota has stated in the brochure (off by -0.1) when I bought the truck. Also that figure is a true calculation based on fuel in and mileage out, not the dash reading. 99% city driving. When I do get the chance to let it stretch its legs on the highway, numbers in the 9's are pretty commom. Best tank was 9.92L / 100kms. And yes I do drive it hard.

That explains it city driving. I am mostly highway. I live in a remote area where the nearest big city is 1 hour away. But close to smaller villages of 10 - 30 minutes away.

I never rely on that dash fill up reading...its dropped as far as 360 a couple times then jumped to 385 and gone as far as 405 miles. I've done the actual math a couple times, and gotten an average of 23 mpg during the hot summer months, and as low as 19 in the winter.

You do realize that there is a 21.1 gallon tank in our Tacomas. When the gauge says 'Empty', there are three more gallons before it really is empty. I also average 16-point-something MPG in daily driving and easily can go 300 miles with room to spare. If I am doing a highway trip and stay under 70 mph, I get around 18 MPG. The best I ever recorded was 20-point-something MPG on an Arizona drive, 65 mph max. My truck is the four-door, 4WD, automatic, V-6 (so the worst model for gas mileage!).

One thing there is to try there is the 35in tune. It will help with the AT. Great compensation for more than just tire size. I have some folks that are on 33s flashed up with a 39in tune to help with all the armor and aero mods that they have.

You are right though. 10mi runs will tank your MPGs. But, you're not filling very often either.
