    Hi Everyone!

I posted some years back asking advice on a Tacoma but never did pull the trigger on buying one (local dealer was awful). Now I'm starting to look into getting one again (probably a new 2020). I'm up to three kids now. My older two are in booster seats and the youngest is in a rear-facing seat. Has anyone managed to fit this configuration in the back? Assuming this will be a tight fit. The wife and I are both short so moving seats forward shouldn't be a big deal. This would be a second vehicle and we'd most likely use the wife's Ascent for longer trips.

    Thanks in advance!

Tacoma is not the vehicle for families.

I used to have a 2005 double cab (same cab as a 2020) and the back seat sucked even for 2 medium-small dogs.

With 3 car seats your better off buying a tundra or sienna. I have a booster and a rear facing seat in my truck and it’s a pain in the ass already.

I was able to fit a rear facing carseat and 2 booster sits in the back of my Tacoma. It is an extremely tight fit. Since then, we just use my Wife's suv to haul the kids around. I would not recommend doing the setup.

If you have a passenger over 5’4” that rear facing seat is going to be a problem. Even with the seat now facing the front way my passengers have space issues when my 3 year old is behind them. I’m 6’1” and there is no way it can go in the middle or behind me because I won’t have any room. You are much better off with a tundra if you want a pick up. If you still want to stay in the smaller end a 4runner is doable.

I have a Diono booster and Britax Convertible (front facing) in my 2020 double cab and imagine it would be a TIGHT fit to get a rear facing seat in there, not to mention trying to buckle the booster. My wife and I are on the shorter side and leg room for them (3 and 5 yr olds) is getting tight.

I mean, it's comfy enough for kids without car seats. But oh my car seats take up space. Probably could fit two ok my guess? I'm thinking about this very thing in the next few years. My brother in law loves their sienna, but wouldnt work for me. He has a corrola and with a good second vehicle it's perfect for them. Corrola would have same capacity I think as far as car seats.
It's doable for your family I'd imagine, but you have to answer that. But as far as that configuration in that truck, the guys above have the right idea.

The only reason Id prefer the taco for kids is because I dislike everything else. Yeah, I'd give it a thumbs down.
