Wow that’s crazy. Glad the light rail isn’t headed down to Shelton anytime soon.

King, Pierce and Snohomish counties in Washington State all have RTA "Rapid transit" tax that greatly increase the Tab fee.

I have an IL plate but its a "TS" plate (troop support) so I pay the $151 + an extra $40, so $191/ year total.

I've got a 2020 Pro and I live in Pierce County, WA.
    $610 was due on 11/6/2020
    It's annual.

Maybe you don't live in the zone where the RTA taxes are? You should feel lucky.

$400 Virginia property tax for a brand new Tacoma? Try more than double that. How are you only paying $400?

In California you have to pay an non operational fee if you don't drive your truck. So If you drain the fluid and use the truck for garage furniture etc you still have to pay a $45.00, or so, "non op" fee. Next they will be charging Californian's for not going to Disney Land. "Hmmm lets see, family of 5 from Barstow and you didn't go to Disneyland this year? That will be $175.62."

Yeah exactly, I typed out and erased something about 3 times and just settled on nothing. I’m not going to say anything I’ll regret later on. I just paid 516 in August. Even my old cars are going up, shoot, my pos 2012 dual sport was about 135 for the year. California has lots to offer but let’s just say I’ll be happy to egress this place after next year. I will admit I’ll be happy to visit here anytime but man... the taxes and regulation are killing my spirit.

Don't know if it is legal to quote your own post? But, it is like the "Better Off Dead" scene where the gal charged Lane Meyer for not going on a date with him.

Wow I knew Cali had some crazy fees and taxes but the picture is getting worse. No wonder people and companies have been leaving for other states like Texas, Arizona, Nevada and some of the southern states.

Left Cali for Georgia and I'm never turning back. I like visiting there because their taxes don't affect me (as much), but I'll never move back.
Georgia yearly taxes for vehicle: $0
Georgia yearly taxes for house: ~$1,800
    - 4 bedroom, 1,600ft² house, ¼ acre yard, 2 car garage. I couldn't imagine how much that would cost in California.
    - Also bought the house for only $150k.

I don't even want to get started on gas prices!

If you added up all of your taxes, home, income, vehicle registrations, etc. you’ll find that some of the fees posted on this thread aren’t that bad....in a whole situation.

My wife and I have future plans to move south and we’ve done the overall comparisons. In the end, yearly costs are very close. How the state manages their money however is eye opening. Pa for example, I can only imagine that there is ALOT of theft as they do little for infrastructure and don’t get me started on the roads! :(

Pennsylvania isn't s great either but no where near as bad.
There is no personal property tax on vehicles but 6% sales tax when its bought and every time it's resold paid by the buyer.
2nd highest fuel taxes in the country, highest in the east. Many roads and bridges suck.
Vehicle registration is $38/year for passenger vehicles and trucks like the tacoma are weight class 2 - $89. plus the county fee of $5 for all vehicles.
My Real estate taxes are higher than you said yours are and vary a lot depending on county and school district.
We also have some silly nuisance taxes and fees locals are allowed to charge, like the $52 a year tax if you work in a township you don't live in is one a lot of people get.

I think the cost of real estate is the biggest issue. Land is so expensive in California. But that’s not really a taxes or fees issue — you see the fees more in new construction when you pay all the park fees and water impact fees and school fees and such, but it’s the value of the land that is different. And that valuation is mostly driven by market forces, which is...uh...capitalism?

But don’t get me wrong, when you see dudes in Ferraris or Lambos driving around here with Wyoming plates, it’s not because they are from Wyoming, it’s because they are sidestepping a registration fee based on the purchase price, which isn’t really a fair schedule after a certain point.
