+1 for the proper way instead of just throwing bulbs into incorrect housings. I love my '22's headlights, and they were a huge factor for me. I had to have them.

    Good video!

I plan to do this one day. Already have a harness, just need to purchase the lights. The OEM LEDs in my dad's Tundra are great at night.

Will continue using the H9 upgrade for the time being.

    Great thread info!

I want to get the TRD PRO lights...at least, I'm leaning towards that.

The non-TRD PROS you got are nice too. It all depends on what we want for our Tacomas.

Great video and congrats on the upgrade. I'd like to do this myself eventually. Really appreciate you talking through the actual feel of each step to remove all the different plastic snaps and parts. I always hate when a project video makes it look super quick and clean to separate those parts but when I try it, its trickier than what's shown and seems like something is going to break. Also, I thought your video had just the right amount of talking vs working - thanks for not artificially extending the video longer than needed.

It’s been a week since the install and all is great , the extra light output the bright white vs the halogen is so much better.

Very glad I did it I keep turning back around to check them out when parked.

Also with the way the sequentials do there thing when I remote start is almost like a light show!

If your on the fence just do it and the harness from @daveeasa is definitely the way to go.

Great video, I enjoyed watching it.

For the assembly install, I may have mis-intuited but it felt like they were designed to slide in from the midline as they rotate into position as opposed to snapping into that bottom clamp from directly in front. However, I only installed these headlights once and I botched my D side (put it inside the metal inner lip the first time and scratched the lens a tiny bit) so maybe I'm a bonehead and they should be snapped in from in front? A rather minute point but an interesting question for how they are assembled in the factory.

Also I really like that you tested before reassembling and you made a big point about clicking in each connector. One thing I might advise others to consider is placing the lights into position before testing, that way they should be held on securely enough by the plastic tabs which go slightly up and over the mounting points and yet still easy to remove if necessary. It made me a little nervous with your lights not properly secured while you tested functionality, though I guess we get more earthquakes than you do :)

Great detail on fender flares and bumper removal, that will help a lot of people.

Also, and hopefully the best news for you, the 4Runner LED headlights test very well and the best part is you can put a Toshiba 9011 bulb in the halogen high beam spot and get awesome performance on both high and low beams. If you need more detail on them, I believe @Spike Spiegel has recently done his and can advise a bit more?

Yes correct they kinda slide out towards the grill to remove and the opposite to install but they are so large and it’s a little difficult getting them in on the first try like you this was my first time too.
    Luckily nothing was scratched.

When testing they where secure enough I felt no earthquakes here lol but good point.

Thanks for watching and thanks for the bulb information on the 4 runner I am definitely interested in getting hers set up with LED bulbs!

I watched Chloe's video, she left the the 2 vertical trim pieces in place and wiggled the headlights out

You removed those 2 pieces so that you could reached down all the way to properly press the tabs that hold the fender flares and release them safely.

My SR has no fender flares, but I'm wondering if I should do the same just so I have more room to get the old headlights out.

And lastly, I think the video skipped the part of putting the bumper back on. How was it? Just exactly the reverse process and the corners will snap back on and look perfectly aligned?

    Great job and awesome video

Pulling the 2 pieces off will probably help with getting the headlights in and out.

The footage of the bumper corners going back on was deleted in my edit I guess not exactly sure…. I was trying to edit down some (was about 1 hour) and hide the fact that I was coughing and had a sinus infection so some footage got scrapped honestly did not notice until you said something, but yes they snapped back together very easily perfect alignment, nothing like trying to get it apart. Thanks for watching! Subscribe like share.

Got it, one more thing, in the end of the video you said you adjusted the headlights angle. Is it because your truck is lifted or leveled?
My truck is stock so I'm hoping the headlights are good to go right out of box without needing any adjustment

I just have the TRD pro fox shocks so not lifted or level basically stock. Check my other video lol

When I was looking at the beam cut off against the garage door the passenger side beam was just slightly higher than the driver so I adjusted it down a little. They where very close from the factory but still something i would check with your old lights before removal. Who is to say if someone turned the knob a few times or how they set the headlights before sending them out. I read where a few people said theirs where dead perfect and a few others had to adjust.

The easiest way to “aim” is do one side and aim based on the other side then do the other side and aim to the first.

But it’s well documented that they are not aimed from the factory and everything changes with weight, gear, etc.

The best way to aim is to follow Stern’s instructions.

Are these plugs and play or is other equipment needed to get the leds installed in place of the halogens?

If your truck came with halogen headlights, swapping to OEM LED requires either cut and crimp of an MX-150 connector or a conversion harness (no cutting) as the LED headlights have a single connector while the TRD halogen headlights have 5 (DRL, Turn, high, low, sidemarker)
