Fuel line leak on 2019 Tacoma bought from Stoltz in Dubois PA three weeks ago with 24K miles and no warranty. Owners called and Service said $100.00 inspection fee then, hourly rate repair. Now, should this be covered under emissions, power train or other warranty ? B.T.W. they paid over $600.00 for undercoating already installed...

most likely no but they are a full up repeatable toyota dealer and should stand by a used truck they sold you three weeks prior. i would go down there and have a come to Jesus talk with them! that's BS on their part.

This would be under the basic bumper-to-bumper warranty which would have expired some time in late 2021 to 2022 depending on the original in-service date.

Was this used truck purchased as-is or "certified pre-owned" from this dealer?

Did they do the fuel pump recall on it? Seems strange such a new-ish truck would fail if left unmolested.

Actually that's covered under the federally mandated 8 year/80K mile emissions warranty. Mention that to the service writer.

^Negative. 8/80 applies to the ECM and catalytic converters only:

It applies to the EVAP system, who's purpose is to prevent fuel vapor from escaping. If liquid fuel is leaking, clearing fuel vapor is escaping. If one brings this to the service manager or calls the toyota 1-800 number....they will cover this. Vehicles with 24K miles on them shouldn't have fuel leaks.

^Federal mandate is only 2 yrs/24k for the evap system (i.e. shorter than the basic Toyota warranty):

always look first, where the human was last
I am skeptical fuel lines on a 4 yo truck failed on their own.
hopefully they take care of you, thanks for following up so others can learn.

What undercoating? All I see is body rust. Sucks to see on a truck that’s only 3 years old

Are those the return lines? I haven't dealt much with fuel lines on my truck, but doesn't look like high pressure lines to me.
