Will start towing a new camper this spring. I have a 2019 Tacoma Sport. Any recommendations for mirrors would be helpful. Thank you!

How wide is your trailer? If 7' wide your stock mirrors will work just fine.

Too many mods and I haven't even started yet..
Check the towing forum here. There's a thread on adapting Dodge flip-out towing mirrors to the Taco.

I might have posted this before- I went a weird direction with this. Instead of modding mirrors I added a wide angle camera to the trailer and a suction cup monitor to the truck. It gives me 100 percent of the view that my stock mirror can't.

Photo is of a weird little campground in CA that insisted on valet parking my popup camper. So I'm seeing myself in my own rear view camera. :D

I love this idea! What sort of camera are you using and how do you power it?

Generic cheap Amazon "rv wireless camera" set. I'd provide the link but the exact model I bought seems to have disappeared. I ran the cables and transmitter directly to the camper's battery harness along with a power switch so it isnt pulling current when I'm out boondocking.

So the camera pulls from the +12V line (or battery when not hooked up to the truck) and the monitor just plugs into my cigarette lighter.

    More data please.

I thought this was a great idea and tried it about a year ago.. the camera i got from Amazon kinda stunk and I kind of just gave up trying.

You get a camera that hard mounted to the trailer and screen suction cup to dash?
    range is ample?

Sort of. Because I was going cheap (around $100 all in) I wanted to buy a kit that had a separate camera and transmitter box. The transmitter is wired to the camper 12V main power, and in turn it supplies power to the camera. This diagram is how mine is wired, shamelessly stolen from a $300 kit on Amazon:

Because mine is cheap and I have heard that cheap wireless systems can have signal issues, I wired my transmitter box as close to the front of the camper as possible. It sits right between the jack and the popup winch. Thats 17 fewer feet of vehicle that the signal has to travel through. Not visible in the lower picture, but mounted on the other side of the winch box is a cheap waterproof on/off switch that interrupts the positive power feed to the transmitter. Its on when I'm towing, but I turn it off to stop the small power drain from my battery bank. The whole thing still sits downstream from my battery mains switch.

There isnt much to the monitor, and I dont think I have a better pic of the one posted earlier. Its a simple all-in-one 5 inch reciever/monitor, with a simple cord that I tuck where the dash meets windshield, then straight down to the cigarette outlet.

With that configuration I have never had a loss of signal. A couple of things to note though - from memory I think its either a 150° or 160° wide angle camera. Its great for seeing who is tailgating me and who is riding the left and right fenders of my trailer, but not so great for seeing far back. It took some getting used to that the tiny dot of a vehicle way off in the distance is actually five car lengths behind and gaining fast. :rofl:The other thing I wish I did but couldn't for obvious complexity issues is that these cameras do better if they are mounted up high. The more downward facing you can point it, the more sunrise/sunset glare you can avoid.

    That helps alot
    Appreciate the time spent typing.
    Thanks much
Going to tackle this again, good idea to reduce transmission distance

I think spotter mirrors sounds great. I was of the impression that the mirrors needed to be physically farther out in order to see around the trailer.
