I thought some of you might find this video interesting. I personally have been waiting on a comparison video between the 2 trucks. I'm sorry if it has already been posted and discussed. I searched through a couple of pages and did not see it.

Tacoma wins hands down in every area IMO, especially looks. That ranger is butt ugly, You couldn't give me a ranger.

That's cool how the Ford can automatically spin it's wheels. They should call it "squall control". haha. Joking aside, I'm happy to see Ford and Chevrolet giving the mid-size market some competition. Toyota needs to keep on it's toes. I love the 3rd gen Tacomas, but they really need to put some effort into comfortable seats and there's no excuse for the lack of Android Auto/Apple Carplay.

Doug Demuro has a video on you tube. Says he would rather have a Tacoma. The Range is old. Ford have been flogging the ranger for years overs seas. With exception to the peppy performance of the engine, it's a miss everywhere else.

I actually kinda like the looks of the Ranger. I someday will probably get back into a midsize and as of right now I don't think I would choose the Ranger over a Tacoma. Low end torque of the ecoboost would be the main reason I would choose the Ranger but the Tacoma is still a better looking truck.

Is the OP a Ford person or Toyota Tacoma
    owner?

I guess if you really like the Ranger, then go for it.

Good for competition and force Tacoma
to update for the better or lose sales.

Bottom line is we need the Colorado and Ranger to give real pressure and be better so that it forces Toyota to up their game.

Competition is healthy and the consumers benefit

I'd go for a Chevy Colorado before I'd jump on a new Ranger if Tacoma wasn't a option.

Interesting comparison on the articulation. The Tacoma has quite a bit more. Also the Tacoma seemed to clear Stage 3 easier without any pausing. Nice review.

I had an '05 Ranger FX4 Level ll with MT it was great for its day. No complaints.

I'm glad to see another option for those of us that don't need or want a full size.
The Colorado was a bargaining tool in my purchase of a '19 Tacoma. I had no intention of ever buying one, but their existence and sales incentives helped me get a better deal.

WOW....so I really want a Taco but test drove one this past weekend and to be brutally honest, it was kind of a let down....when we tried to get on the highway it vibrated to all hell and a hand basket! The sales person stated that it was a problem with the tires. Will check out another one this weekend down south; but to be honest even after we got in another Taco, the same thing happened. Probably a dealer issue but will wait to test the Ranger out. The only other one that we are looking at.

Simply looking for an off-road SMALL truck that can Overland at times and mod at times.

What I was really surprised at...some of my buddies that have older Tacomas W/O modifications felt way better than the "off the lot" 2019 Taco Off road we tested and the other one off the lot.

    Am I missing something?

I can be unbiased as I currently own a full size from neither manufacturer. As I see it based on this one test, the Tacoma is more capable off-road. The Ranger is 'nicer' but.......

Now throw a set of decent off-road tires on the Ranger and crappy street only tires on the Tacoma, the result might be different. Tires can matter. What I don't like is the Ecobust engine.

I'm still shopping for my next truck. The Ranger, Frontier, and Tacoma are what I'm looking at. I'm still leaning heavily towards the SR Access cab 4x4 2.7 automatic with the utility package.

The Tacoma I test drove on 12-24 was smooth as silk. Quiet with no vibration. Maybe it was a problem with the tires like the salesman (liar) said.

Tires do make a HUGE difference! I couldn't care less about the tires as I will most likely swap 'em out for our needs/wants.

I also do not own a truck.

Want one YES! We simply would like a smaller truck than a Tundra/Titan/F150......enough said.

If I could get an original Ranger or S10 (god forbid a Chevy....it did its job when owned but wasnt up to par) I would.

Smaller off-road vehicle is the next purchase.

Just to be honest, the 2019 Taco we tested had a couple of "odd" issues even with several test drives. Like I said previously, we will test another couple out this weekend.

We SIMPLY will not purchase until the Rangers hit the lot.

    Good to have options.

I'm currently driving a 2018 F150. I have had 3 Tacomas in the past. Most recent was a 2016. I have had one Ranger in the distant past. It was 1995 Ranger. It was actually my first brand new truck.

LOVE the F150......however it is MORE truck than we need. Our neighbor just got a new one and OMG it is great but way to big for our tastes

Mid Truck = happiness for wife and I. :)
