Leak was suspected at 20k miles ("VALVE COVER GASKET OR TIMING COVER"). Dealership wanted to check on leak at 25k miles. Now the verdict is "OIL LEAK APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM R. CAM TOWER" but, they want the truck back in two weeks to confirm. If it is the cam tower apparently it's a 17 hour job.

Thank goodness its under warranty but just hate to see the truck get pulled apart. I know its a Tundra issue but wtf?

Unfortunate, but not common. Glad it’s getting taken care of for you under warranty.

What made you bring the truck in for this? Just curious

At 20k the dealership failed to secure the drain plug. Clearly a mess in the drive way and in the skid plate. Truck returned and I requested to watch the clean up and diagnoses. Assumed it'd be the plug or weird filter. Aftert they cleaned the mess the master tech was called over and noticed oil on the "VALVE COVER GASKET OR TIMING COVER" and wanted it checked at another 25k. During that 5k the engine started smelling like hot oil. There was never any oil leaking, engine lights or hot temp readings. Just the smell and prior suspicion of a leak.

I think they caught it earlier because of the plug.
