2018 TRD OR interior lights won’t turn on

Hi all,

I have a question, today when I went to turn on my inside lights in the truck they wouldn’t turn on, and when I lifted my visor on the mirror lights wouldn’t turn on either. I have to get to work earlier everyday to find parking so I end up sitting in the truck for about 30 min after I park with the truck off. Is this normal? The lights won’t turn on after the truck has been off for a certain period of time? Shouldn’t they turn on whenever I want them on?

Check the fuse under the driver’s side dash. Should be labeled as “Dome” like the picture below shows.

 

Have you been able to get the lights back on since the issue? Also, have you changed any of the interior bulbs to led etc?

 

Also- Dumb thought but lots don’t notice hitting their off switch. Considering the vanity lights don’t work either, doubt that’s the case. Just one more thing to rule out though.

 

Yes they work normal now, I just wonder if it was some feature that had something to do with me sitting in it for so long off like it didn’t know I was in the truck? but I feel like they should turn on any time you try to turn them on?

Yeah they are turned to on

 

Yes they worked after again once the truck was turned back on and when I opened the door this morning they turned on

 

Yes they worked later and my mirror ones on the visor I believe my dad changed because they are white not yellow but the ones in the roof are the stock ones

■To prevent battery discharge

If the following lights remain on when the door is not fully closed and the main

switch is in the door position, the lights will go off automatically after 20 minutes:

●Front personal lights

●Interior lights

●Cargo lamp (if equipped)

■Customization that can be configured at Toyota dealer

Settings (e.g. the time elapsed before lights turn off) can be changed.

(Customizable features: P. 654)

 

If they ever time out on you again, just open and close one of the doors. This will reset the timer.

 

But they aren’t on to begin with, I want to turn them on and they won’t turn on?

 

I just wanted to make sure this wasn’t something broken that I needed to take in while it’s still under warranty. I feel like your lights should turn on whenever you turn them on

 

Correct, if you've been sitting in the truck for 20 minutes with it off and then decide to turn them on, you're outta luck.

You can have the dealer adjust the length of the timeout feature though if you want.
