I bet you all can help a lady out. I love Toyota trucks (my previous was a 2006 Tundra) and do a lot of camping. I now have a 2017 Tacoma SR5 TRD, crew cab, short bed 3.5 liter V6. "Blanca" is my buddy and I love her!

I have an opportunity to get a trailer with a dry weight of 3700 lbs, and I'm trying to figure out if Blanca can handle the load. All the literature on this is kind of vague...all I can find is a blurb that says if the truck comes with a tow package, it can handle up to 6400, but without, it can only handle about 3500. What I haven't been able to find out is what MY truck can handle. I'm about to call the dealer and ask them, but I'm hoping there's some way I can find out on my own.

For what it's worth, it does have an integrated hitch, but I think they all do...that may not be an indication that it has the V6 tow package. I'd rather find out now before I buy this trailer.

Thanks, this is helpful. I'm guessing the screen shot is the window sticker? If so it was irreparably damaged by the cleanup crew when I bought the truck...I'd have hoped this info was somewhere else as well, but I haven't been able to find it.

    What does Rad stand for?

Radiator. You can also download the toyota owners app, plug in your VIN, and it will show you the features, options and packages on your truck.

Ah, makes sense. I don't know my way around under the hood enough to know what I'm looking at for the trans (I'm guessing you mean transmission) cooler.

I tried installing the app, but my model doesn't support it.

Guess I'll give the dealer a call. They sure didn't make this easy, did they?

Look at the radiator through the grill or open the hood, is there a black box that looks like a mini radiator attached to it?

Check your window sticker. It should say on their if you have the V6 tow package. I'm pretty sure yours will come with it:

It can handle it. Use the proper equipment for that weight such as a weight distribution hitch and/or brake controller. It'll help tons! I believe you can actually tow 6700 or 6800. The 6400 is for long beds.

I'm pretty sure if your truck has the towing package if the hitch and 4/7 pin connectors are installed at the back end of your truck.

You can use Toyota's vin lookup website instead of the app if you're having issues with that. https://www.toyota.com/owners/vehicle-specification

That's the answer! This link gave me the full specs that I lost with the window sticker. I do have the hitch and the pin connectors, and yes, I can see the transmission cooler.

So yes, I do have the right tow package, so it looks like I'm getting me a new trailer! Thanks so much for the help, everyone!
