2017 Taco w/JBL Entune - Cant get text's on screen?

Hi Ya'll,

Well, I got my second Taco and have an issue. With Iphone 6s. Messages wont display or read to me. Cant seem to connect Iphone for text messages. Can the system do this? MY buddies - he says read it. and the truck reads it to him. He says reply and it creates his reply.

Any help would be appreciated.

You have to go into your phone in the settings to where the bluetooth lists your truck. Go in there and turn on allow notifications.

The messages can be read back to you while moving, but while stopped you can have it played through the speakers OR read it.

 

Ok, I checked and I had the allow notifications checked on the phone, but still nada. Any other things I can check?

 

Did you program in the 4 favorite numbers in the contacts list which are displayed on 'home screen'?

Something funny happens when 4 contacts are there and text messages don't come through.

I'm in Maui and trucks back at home otherwise I'd throw a picture down for further clarification.

If you did program those 4 , delete everything to do with your phone stored in the truck and phone and start from the beginning again.

Change the 3 windows to something other than 4 contacts ( time / fuel / or the other options. ((Display setup))

And last of all don't be in the actual text messages screen on your phone, and set the truck head unit to home screen as well. Sorry updated a few times... More thoughts coming to me, but drinking ATM

 

Thanks for the reply friend. I have not programmed any numbers into the truck / entire and no numbers are displayed on home screen. Not sure why it aint working

 

Apple conspiracy? My S6 functions flawlessly.

Side note for when you figure out the connectivity problem.... texts will read while the vehicle is in motion but will only display when the vehicle is stopped. At least i assume this to be the case on the '17 as it is in my '16.

 

Same issue here. I was able to get text messaging to work (read back) once while trying to figure it out with friends, but it only worked one time. Sometimes I'll get notification of a text but the "read" button is greyed out on the HU.

I've tried the "show notifications" off and on but still won't work.

Most annoyingly BT thing is that when phone is connected to HU, and text notifications is not working, the phone is silenced and you don't know when a message is received on your phone!

I still need to delete phone from HU and try from the beginning.

When I connected phone to truck for the first time, the Entune App loaded a large update. Does the app provide all updates to the HU or is there still firmware updates that only the dealer can install for the HU?

 

Note 4 works flawlessly. You can not send a message when moving though, dam safety regs. I leave my Bluetooth on all the time and the truck just recognizes it and connects when I turn on the truck. Only issue I have is if I leave the vehicle running, go to far away with phone and losee connection. When I return the trucks pissed and won't reconnect automatically. Has to be done manually.

 

had this issue with my last droid moto-x. Just replaced it with the new droid turbo and without
changing anything, they pop up and are audible now.

 

You have the entune app downloaded and your bluetooth enabled right?

I have the iphone 6 and it works with no problems. The entune app can be a little wonky at times.

 

Mine works fine except for texts from my wife. Anybody else that texts me will show on the screen...but my wife's don't show up...

 

Mine has been hit or miss. Updated iOS and it stopped working completely.

My issue was after an initial text I hit ignore to clear screen. Read will never highlight. After hitting ignore to clear it. No ther text will come through from anyone even with the phone screen off out if messaging app.
