I have a 2017 SR5 4X4 DCLB in order and it takes too long. I am dying to wait until end of October for delivery.

Now they have the same truck in stock, but it's SR trim.

What do I loose to go from SR5 to SR?

I plan to swap the wheels/tires with TRD wheels and KO2 tires regardless of which truck I'll get.

I have the SR5, but almost bought a SR ... you can't go wrong with either ... especially when equipped with the same options.

If you are dying to wait than what's the hurry? Just wait for the SR5

I had the same dilemma but from SR5 or sport/off road. Went SR5 and swapped a lot of things out so I'm happy.
Wait for the SR5, you're loosing quite a few things

I was between these two as well. The kicker was I had to order the SR, not the SR5. So I went with the SR5. Another thing was the price. I got this truck for only about $1,000 more than I would have paid for the SR, and it came with a number of things the SR doesn't. All signs pointed to the SR5 for me.

maybe not important to him but sr5 has chrome rear bumper. I believe SR doesn't have factory tint in rear?

Not fan of chrome, would plasti dip anyway. Factory tint is to light, I went with 5%.

The dash cluster is a little more basic on the SR (not that big of a deal). The SR5 has fog lights and factory tint, not available on SR. The CD player has a little bit different features as well. May want to make sure the SR you get has tow package as well if you ever need that, I know some SRs don't have it. I have also heard the wiper blades on some of the SRs are not intermittent. I went SR5 and I am pretty satisfied.

Lots of comments, but no real answers yet, so here you go OP.

SR has Entune Audio, SR5 has Entune Plus with scout connected gps.
SR5 get 4.2 MID (multi information display) and TPMS with individual tire alert
    SR5 has variable intermittent wipers
SR5 has cruise control standard, part of a package on the SR
    SR5 has integrated fog lights

I may have missed something, like the grill I think may be different, but that is the biggest feature differences listed above.

Another one is that the V6 SR5 also comes standard with the auto dimming rearview mirror, which can easily be upgraded to the one with homelink. The SR just has the manual day/night rearview mirror without the power hookups required for the auto dimming or homelink.

The SR5 also has the leather wrapped steering wheel while the SR has the urethane steer wheel.

I also don't think the SR comes in a DCLB configuration but I could be wrong.

    ...^^^... I have a SR5 with V-6 and auto and no ... "auto dimming mirror" ...

I wanted to tap into that mirror wiring for my GoPro but I couldn't find the mirror wires ...

PS ... SR's are very popular in GA ... especially with the "rear seat utility delete".

2016 I think you had to upgrade to the highest appearance package. 2017 it comes standard.

SR5 comes in long bed... that's the only difference that matters to most people. Some trim pieces and a screen in your dash cluster are pretty forgettable. You can add fog lights for $80 and about an hour of time.

Doubt i'd call the screen in the dash "forgettable"....
Let's face it... the SR is a company "lets warp it" work truck.
You get what you pay for, wait for the SR5.

Most people do not know this but the so called factory tint as everyone calls it, is not tint, it`s nothing more than smoked glass, it does nothing for blocking UV`s.
