Hello everybody. I’m hooking up an after market reverse camera. Does anyone know what color the wire that turns on the reverse camera. That is behind the radio or the front dash somewhere? Thanks

For the aftermarket radio guys, the most common way to get the signal is through the data link between the vehicle and the Head Unit. I have seen some head units that do not use the data link, and require the installer to run a wire down the console to the switch on the gear selector or the actual tail light itself. There may be other alternatives that I am not aware.

I was just thinking, the actual wire most likely passes along the floorboard on either the driver side or passenger. If you could pick it up there, it might save you some work. But, finding it may be a different story.

It has it's own harness behind the radio it's the long connector with the least amount of wires running from it

pin #2 in the 28pin connection that goes to the head unit. Sent 12v into pin 2, (to the HU) to make the reverse cam turn on. Be careful as you will back power the reverse lights if you just add power. Many add a diode to stop the back power, but that’s a bad solution if you intend on leaving it on for any length of time (diodes are not designed to hold back power indefinitely). you need to physically disconnect the power back to the lights.
