I have the OEM tonneau cover, which has the latch-catches. Will the fitting kit fit the rails with me having to remove latch-catches?

It doesn't look like they'd be compatible together.

Even though you have the long bed, it looks like that is the lowest the rack will go down until it hits bed liner?

I just finished installing my Thule Xsporter on my 2017 Sport DCSB last night. See below for photos at the lowest height option (19). Only way to get it lower is by cutting the towers which impacts your ability to install the locks.

Here are some photos of the lowest setting (once the uprights hit the wheel wells). I also posted these in the post above yours on this thread. You can cut the bottom of the uprights to make it go lower but then you won't be able to use the factory locks.

and here are some photos in use with paddle boards (not the highest it can go).

I've recently replaced it with a topper

I don't expect it to go any lower with the long bed. It hits the wheel wells in the front and the little lip in the rear. I would think it would be the same with the long bed. See below.

Both my Thule rack and topper were Craigslist finds! Just have to keep an eye out!

Ah, I see what you are getting at there... hate to bother with another question but, are there old toppers that work with our truck bed or would it have to be a newer truck topper designed for the tacoma specifically...

You have to find one specifically designed for the 2016-2018 Tacomas I believe. The beds changed slightly from the second to third gens. That makes finding a used one a little harder but not impossible.
