    Good afternoon,
I recently purchased a Salvage 2016 Tacoma with a front collision and deployed curtain airbags, all the others are good from an auction, when i got it, it wont start or crank at all, i check all fuses, they looked good i replace the battery for a new one, i scanned the truck and it said the Crankshaft position sensor was failing, i bought it new from the dealership and put it on and still the same no crank, so i went with the starter i replaced the damn starter today for a new one and still the same, no start, no crank.

Please help this is driving me nuts!!!

Any lights or accessories failing to turn on?

Older cars have impact sensors that use a magnetic ball. Once a collusion occurs, they need to be replaced. Newer ones might be reprogrammable. Some cars also have a fuse that blows in the event of a collision.

It’s weird the crankshaft position sensor was failing this early as well.

Agreed. Could easily be a ground point or other electrical issue with all that damage. I bet tech stream could tell the OP more.

This is something, someone with years and years of experience with a schematic and DMM could track down. Not some dumbos on the intranet

I already took it with 2 Mechanics, the first one said it was the crankshaft position sensor, i ordered it and put it on and same, took it to another one with better recomendations, said it was the startor, i ordered and installed it and nothing. He said he will dig deeper into it but i dont think he is going to the right track now.

Thats what I was thinking. Many cars have fuel cut offs or battery cut offs in crashes to prevent a fire.

You say it "wont start or crank at all" These terms get mixed up alot so I just want to clarify.

When you turn the key (or push start) what happens exactly? Does the engine click? does it turn over but not start? is there no sound and nothing happening?

Wont start indicates that the engine turns but will not start
Wont crank indicates that the starter motor is not even able to start the engine.

So from here there are a few things to check depending on what you mean. If its not cranking, check for voltage at the starter motor first, if its getting power and the solenoid is clicking but just not turning try to jump the starter with a screw driver (this will bypass a bad solenoid and apply power right to the starter)

If you are not getting any power to the starter then start with the fuse box and battery cable fuse.

If you are getting power but its not turning then make sure the motor spins, put a breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt and try to turn the engine by hand.

Get back to us after you have tested these things.

Reading this seems to me that the starter is not getting power. There should be a high amp fuse that is blown. I dont remember if its on the battery terminal or in the main fuse box.

This, your no crank/no start, is probably an electrical cutoff safety or a wire disconnected from the accident. Check all fuses/relays first then start looking at battery connection and ground straps

Also as a side note, when a car goes to auction and the battery is dead, they may try to jump it to move it... if jumped backwards then it would of blown the starter fuse (high amp fuse that I mentioned already in my posts above)

I don't understand the mentality lol. Even on trivial repairs, shops with years of experience can't get it right. It takes someone willing to track down wires, read theory an operation, test waveforms on high speed can networks etcetcetc. It's not like pop pops 73 k5 anymore.

Thank you guys, We already checked all fuses, connections grounds eveything looks good and in working condition, when i turn the key all the lights in the dashboard turns on, and when i hit it to turn it on it does nothing, it doesnt crank or anything i just can hear that the fuel pump is doing its job and thats all. I also think it will something very dumb like a loose wire or something i guess i will need to contact the god damn dealership to diagnose it once it gets out from the painting shop. and has everything back together.
