I just bought a 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off road and was told it had a 430 rear gear. After doing a little research I've came to the conclusion it has a 390 ratio after I've been corrected. My gripe is it likes to search for gears in the hills unless I run it in manual mode in 4th on the interstate with speeds around 70-75 mph. Does anyone else have this issue or way of overcoming it?

A 2016 V6 Tacoma with the 6-Speed Automatic should have a 3.909 rear gear ratio. The 2016 Tacoma V6 with the 6-Speed Manual has a 4.30 rear gear ratio.

You will never escape the hunting due to the steep 6th gear overdrive.

Only the MT V6 has the 4.3 ring gear. You have a 3.9 rear end and yes other people exirience the same issue with the new auto trans.
