    Hey Guys,

I have an issue with my 2016 Tacoma, for some strange reason, the AC blows cold on the driver side AC, and slightly less on the leftmost center vent, but blows hot air on the passenger side.

It does, however, blow hot air on all vents if the heat is on, so I'm not really sure what's going on

As advised by many people on the forum, i'm not going to try and self-refill the AC system as I'd rather not cause more problems than I fix on accident.

Could this issue be low refrigerant, or do you guys think this might be something a bit more nefarious?

Second, far less important question, has anyone had issues with their keyfob only intermittently unlocking the door? It might just be my car's battery, which I'll investigate, but I find it a bit strange that it would be intermittent, the spare keyfob also doesn't work when it doesn't, so i find it not very likely that it's an issue with the keyfob itself.

sub'd .... I don't have that issue but I don't really get much cold anywhere unless I turn in on high. I always had a feeling it never worked right. Heat in the winter takes forever to get warm too. Even with the electric heater going.

Does your truck have dual zone climate control? If so it might be something with the climate control. If it doesn't have that it could be a low charge. I had issues with a few cars that the AC would act like that on a low charge.

My is300 did the same thing when the a/c sprung a leak. It would eventually cool only from the left side. It has the same evaporator setup as the taco. What happens is the the inlet to the evaporator is on one side, so with low refrigerant, about half the evaporator removes heat, the side closest to the inlet.

The evaporator is dead center of the dash and you can picture it flat towards the firewall. Since half of the evap is "working" you feel it through the vents, since the manifold is positioned lengthwise over the evaporator.

This is assuming your dual climate if equipped isnt bugging out.

It's a low charge, happens all the time. Only one side is cooled properly.

On the key fob, I'd put a new battery in and see what happens.

There is a recall on the blower motors. Maybe that

Thanks on the heads up on the recall, I was unaware of this.
I'll investigate this, most people I know said that if it was low i'd blow the same amount of low out of all of them, but they aren't AC techs
I do not have dual climate control, I got the SR5, none of those neat fancy things unfortunately.

I spoke to a dealership, they quoted 140$ for a diagnostic, with the 140$ going towards the repair if I got it fixed there, waiting on a quote from a few other places first.

I'll post the diagnosis from the dealership next week if all goes well, hopefully it's nothing major :/

Necrobumping here a bit, but just wanted to give a resolution for anyone that comes across this with Google

The refrigerat was low, I have a slow leak somewhere, so that's why it was cold one side and not the other

As for the key fob, I incorrectly assumed that it wasn't the fob itself as my spare fob also didn't work, it seemed somehow the battery in that fob also died, so it was as simple as a new battery for the fob, that'll show me to overthink things instead of just doing the simple option first

Did they find the leak? Or did they just top off the refrigerant?
