My ac doesn't stay on. While driving I have to keep pressing the ac button for the air to come out cold. I don't know if this is a problem with anyone else. Can anyone help? Thank you so much!

Check your climate settings under customization on the 2nd page of settings.

If you have the premium and tech package in the middle of the driver's side temp knob there is a button labeled "auto". If that button is lit up the climate control will do whatever the fuck it wants to maintain temp, include turning off the A/C when you may not really want it to be off. If "auto" is off and the A/C won't stay on I'm out of ideas.

The auto climate control will turn the AC on and off as required. When the AC is on the truck consumes more fuel.

Mine has been doing it for a long time. Mine does it every single time it's hot outside when I first start it up. The A/C light doesn't stay on until I drive about 2-3 miles.

That would chap my ass for sure, especially when it's hot outside. I wonder why it does that though or what the thought process behind it is?

My recirculate button turns on whenever it wants to. No Auto A/C or Tech package and not turning the switch too full cold.

Temp switch is in the same spot and then recirculate light turns on.

Added cruise for 16 dollars :LOL
I see this is an old post but I watched a video here of a guy pushing the air conditioning button, and two second later the light goes off. I bought a Brand new 2017 tacoma 3 years ago. The other day I turned on the air when leaving the house and it whistled/screamed Highggggggg, Lowerrrrrrr, lowwwwww, reallly lowwwww then stopped (like air escaping a balloon until empty). By the end of the street about 100 yards the noise was gone and now my air cond does not work it does just what the above video shows, I push it and two seconds later the light goes off. I took it to Midas and the guy said after having my car in the bay for an hour that he could not "fit" his air condintioning fiag tools to my system and that it was "R22" instead of R134 which was bolognie according to what I am reading here. Can anyone help me get this fixed correctly? Can I fix it myself with a simple relay replacement as I was reading? It seems to me the noise was all the coolant evacuating with some leak but I could be wrong. Thanks very much.
