This is the second defining moment in Tacoma history where ReveMoto is offering this conversion again because the first group buy was so successful!
The support and photos definitely made all the long hours of pushing out these hoods worth it!



We initially launched this conversion not knowing how many people were actually going to be interested, but figured it would be fun for anyone who wanted to change the look of their Tacoma even if it was just a couple people.

COVID-19 got us all stuck at home, so why not work on the conversion and stare at your new hood + scoop at home?

WARNING: This post is going to be a little long, but hopefully I make it funny enough to keep you interested AND make it worth the read to provide all the information you need to decide if you want to join the #SCOOPGANG!

1. Price:

Currently on a regular aftermarket steel hood is: $1,440.00, but will be discounted for the group buy. I promised I would try to get at least 15% discount off the original price because the most we ever give is 10%.

So for a CAPA Certified hood, OEM hood scoop (ABS plastic) already installed for you), painted and shipped to you, will be $1,225.00 (CAPA Certified is just a grade below your OEM hoods and this ensures no weird fitment issues.)

- For anyone that loves OEM all around, the cost will be: $1,565.00 (Unfortunately, I can't discount these.)

2. Paint Job & Warranty:

The bottom of the hood doesn't get clear-coated. Only base coats. (We do clear the edges so that it's better protected, but in general because certain areas are hard to reach and can drip easily, that's why most body shops don't do it. And if they do, they charge a fortune.)

Here is a quote from the last group buy:
"I looked at doing this exact thing locally. Quality and well reviewed local paint and body shop quoted me $2300 to do this exact work. And I had to drop my truck off and leave it with them so they could match the paint to the fenders. I wasn't willing to do that nor pay that amount to add the scoop into my life."

- If you absolutely want it cleared, there's an additional $150 charge because it will take so much more time and material to complete this task. (Just wanted to put this information out there for anyone who is weary about it.)

You get a lifetime warranty on the paint job. No deception here. Just don't use some weird cleaning solution that makes your paint peel/crack.
Rock chips are not covered under the warranty.

(All our prices includes painting and shipping within for the 48 states.) Hawaii/Alaska/Canada orders will have an additional shipping/handling cost that you will see upon checkout. Texas orders unfortunately has to pay 8.25% for taxes. - But not to fear, we offer financing at great rates for anyone that prefers to pay over time. )

3. Shipping:

Items are shipped via Freight (your 18 wheelers, boats, train, plane etc.)
We ship them in double corrugated boxes and sometimes a box within a box with plenty of stuffing and some of the strongest bubble wrap money can buy.

This next part is SOOOOOOOOOOOO important, but very simple.


With freight, the shipping courier will call you to schedule delivery.
You have to check your shipment completely. If you sign for it, it's yours to keep.
No takesy-backsies!

So please...take off all the paddings, protection, etc and inspect it for any damages.
REJECT any damaged goods and note it on your delivery receipt and contact us for a replacement. If you accepted it and found damages, file a claim and we'll see if we can help in anyway possible. (We do not like conflict, lol.)

Because it's heavily discounted, if you just sign all willy nilly, the freight company will not approve the damage claim and therefore we can't afford to send you a new hood.

4. Paint Matching:

The burning question:

How does ReveMoto paint match panels if they don’t have the car?

Most body shops will say that a painted panel cannot be color matched without the car present and, or, without blending the paint. This is not entirely true.

Our paint line is formulated to match the mixture from the original formula the manufacturer painted the vehicle. What we do is choose the variant or create a special formula to mimic the color fading that the vehicle would experience depending on age of vehicle. We just need your paint code and we're good to go. On occasions, we will ask for a sample to make sure everything goes smoothly for colors we know are a little more difficult to match on the first try.

- BUT for this group buy, you may be asked to send a sample to ensure there are no color-match issues. Except for black colors. We're good there. We'll send it back as soon as we have a color-match. We don't hold the sample for months, don't worry.

6. How long will this take to arrive?

We are accepting deposits until Labor Day, September 7th. Then we will place the bulk order for these hoods. It should be in before the end of October. (You should receive it before or around Black Friday the latest.) Sorry friends, COVID-19 guidelines in the workplace makes it a bit hard for us to be super efficient at this time.

I know it seems like we're asking for a lot, but with bigger discounts like this, we kinda have to make sure everything goes smoothly, the first time around you know? We appreciate your cooperation.

7. Do you do installs for local Houston customers?

Yes! It's $150 for install. Will need to drop your car off at 9am and we'll let you know when you can pick it up. Will be completed in the same day. Installs are currently done only on Fridays and an appointment will need to be made.

9. What do you need to have so that you can order?

Your year, make, model and paint code. (You can find your paint code on the manufacturer sticker on the door jam. It should say: C/TR and then a code. If you still can't find it, you can call your dealership with your VIN and they'll give it to you.

A non-refundable deposit of $350.00 - you gotta be committed to hit it, lol.
(We will send you a draft order for you to hold your hood and then once the hoods are in, we will send you a payment request for the rest of it.)

10. Do you have any reviews and photos?

Yes! I'll post them at the end of this thread.

11. Do you have an installation video? Does it come with installation hardware?

It doesn't come with the hardware, but you should be able to just transfer those items over or buy them at your local dealership.
Install is pretty easy from what the first group buy said. So grab a buddy, make them convert their hood and help each other out!

Here are the steps on how you can sign up to get in on this SUPER SECRET GROUP BUY. Literally, this is not posted anywhere on our website except in this forum.

1. If you haven't given us your email already, then email: sales@revemoto.com. Subject line: Tacoma World - Attention Ashley - I'm Ready To Buy!

- Provide me:
Year, make, model, paint code
OEM or CAPA Certified Hood
The scoop painted the same color as your hood or unpainted (so that you can vinyl wrap it yourselves) - just those 5 things.

- If you did already provide me your email, I will be emailing you a link to the forum so you can read all of this and do step 1 above.

2. I will send a draft order that says: Your Year, Toyota Tacoma (CAPA Certified or OEM) : Hood with Scoop Bundle Painted Your Paint Code (XXX) - DOWN PAYMENT = $350.00

The hood will take about two months to come in and then about a month process. Our goal is to make sure every hood arrives before Black Friday as a gift to yourselves!
I know it seems like a long time, but compared to the years that you'll be having this hood, it's but a small fraction of time. I mean, we were pretty patient when Popeye's ran out of their chicken sandwich right?

3. Once the hoods are in, we will send one more payment request for the remaining balance.

Forgive my ignorance, is this a carbon fiber or fiberglass hood?

 

No ignorance here! I totally forgot to post the material. They will all be steel hoods. Hood scoop is made of ABS plastic.

 

What is ETA? One part says 6 weeks another is 3 months+?

I did this on the last group buy. I support this 100%. One of my most loved upgrades. In fact. The black truck in this listing is mine. These people are phenomenal to work with. If there’s anything wrong with the hood. They will do good. I had a bad shipped hood. Did what the instructions told me to do and by that night. I had new order information emailed to me. It’s been a year and I still look at it going down the road. Happy I got it.

 

One thing to take into account is most shipping companies are not allowing customers to sign for packages due to social distancing protocols. How is this issue addressed?

 

What’s the price without the plastic scoop bulge, I’ve already gone and purchased a used bulge off EBay already color matched.
