Has anyone seen a Pro in the wild yet? My local dealer has had the 4Runner for about 2 weeks now and just got the Tundra on Friday. I pulled in today to check it out in person and ask about the Tacoma. That TRD Pro Tundra is BAD-ASS in person (snapped some pics, can post em once I transfer from camera if anyone is interested) and I'm not even a fan of Tundras, so I cannot WAIT to see the Tacoma version. The salesman said they were supposed to get one in the coming weeks, but then he double checked and I guess they aren't because the Taco version is "rare" and only 17 dealers in a 300 mile radius of us got them/are getting them.

Anyway, the point is, aside from the actual look of the truck like the TRD PRO body stamps and the grill, along with the badging and custom color (that orange with black badging is by far the best color scheme I've seen IMO, it's awesome), what are the package differences between the Pro and the Off-Road and Sport? The dealer guy wasn't sure off the top of his head because he said (don't know if it's true, just relaying what he said) that all 3 vehicles' (Taco, Tundra, 4Runner) Pro models have DIFFERENT features? He said only the 4 runner has something called crawl mode or assist or something, same as the FJ had, but the taco and tundra don't, and that the 4R and Tundra come with Skid Plates, Taco doesn't, etc.

For one, it seems a bit off to have totally different features within the same "package" depending on the vehicle. Especially if you're calling it PRO, that seems like it should have a ton of stuff, not selective/take away stuff (no skid plate for the Taco? Pretty sure that needs it more than a Tundra...). Also, the Tundra Pro didn't have a power outlet in the bed, but the regular 2015 TRD Tundra did, so again, the "pro" seems to have less than the off road/sport, aside from a much cooler look I don't see anything specific performance/function-wise that is different?

The Tacoma trd pro is simply a TRD off road with different shocks in all 4 corners and lift springs in the front... Everything else is exactly the same outside of aesthetics.

The Tacoma pro is basically a TRD Sport with the TRD OR axles and suspension (so you get the Locker and TRD OR Computer stuff). Tires, wheels, & suspension are pretty close to the Baja TX with a bit of tuning to the shocks and spring rates. Add the TRD Exhaust and a few other goodies and you get the Pro.....about the only things that could not be found on previous Tacos are the Grill and the Inferno Color.

The TRD pro is not worth the money. If you are dead set on one then get the 4Runner version. out of all of them it actually is pretty freaking cool and more off road capable than the Tacoma.

There's a TRD Pro 4Runner in my apartment complex and it is pretty sweet in black.

That's correct. The three Pro models have different features. Toyota didn't want to spend much money.

The Tacoma TRD Pro suspension (i.e. the ONLY functional upgrade on this trim level) is carried over from the TX Baja.

Crawl control and multi-terrain select had been available on the 4Runner Trail Edition and FJ since 2010. It won't appear on the Tacoma until 3rd gen.

Tundra can't be purchased with a rear locker in any trim level.

The skid plate is moot. Once you get serious about off-roading, get a plate- or tube front bumper, etc., you will want a sturdier aftermarket skid that offers better clearance and can support the truck's weight.

If the Tacoma Pro is pretty similar to the TX Baja, is the Baja still an option on new models or did the Pro replace that offering? To me I just REALLY prefer that grill to the standard one, and that color is awesome as well. Obviously I wouldn't buy a vehicle JUST for the grill and color haha, but I'm just saying, the grill is world's better than the stock one, and that color is my new favorite in their lineup.

See I think the 4runners look HIDEOUS. I just do not like them at all. The older ones are OK (never been a fan of "SUV"s in general, any make/model) but I just do not get the appeal of the new ones. Mechanically yes, but aesthetically not at all, and for me, that's part of it. They look OK from head on, but the side view or the rear I don't care for. I saw the Orange one on the lot and then later that same day I saw a black one in a fire station parking lot.

i wish i bought the PRO cuz i am a retard and impulsively bought a 15 TRD off road (love it though) but am finding myself wanting to make mine into one. on the other hand, its fun to do so which is cool too

yesterday got a quote on a new hood (i.e, fake scoop), pro grille and of course since i need to get rid of the tarded chrome grill surround that will also add cost, quite a bit.

also got quote on trd exhaust.

today just got trd beadlocks put on, picking up soon

told you i was a tard

    its fun no matter what

Haha, and the best part is it is a LACK of stickers thats the difference, because as far as I can tell from pictures the Pro Tacomas don't have any TRD decals on the rear like all the other TRD a models have always had, AND they don't have the TRD PRO stamped into the body back there like the Tundra does (though I haven't seen a tailgate on a Taco Pro to know if there's a stamp in that)

I wasn't aware you could convert the grill though, is that like a big mod process, or is it a standard part you can order and swap out with the factory mounts and such without having to do bodywork or drilling new holes to mount, etc

Actually the Pro comes with 265/70/16's, not 265/75/16's. The difference is the OR comes with BFG Rugged Trail (read POS) tires and the Pro has BFG AT KO's which are an OK tire.

The suspension is slightly different than what was on the Baja"s. In Four Wheeler's recent PTOY Testing the 2015 Taco Pro's 20 degree ramp score was 473 vs the tested 2013 Baja TX which scored 380. For those who care about such stuff the new Colorado ramped a score of 391 but they had to build an approach to the ramp to clear the front spoiler.

Either buy a new grill from camelbak Toyota, paint it yourself with duplicolor, or plastidip it
