    Hello,

I am buying a 2015 Tacoma with low mileage about 52K miles. Well maintained, one owner, who has two other cars and with clean Car-fax. It drives nice with strong pull and smooth transmission shifting. However, I was reading about Tacoma problems and came across the transmission and rust issues.
is this something I need to worry about with this Tacoma? Is there any other problems i need to be concerned about? Your thoughts please.

    Thank you, Mike.

Never heard of transmission issues in a 15. Rust yes, but where are you buying it from? Take a bunch of pics etc and post it up here, everyone will help you not to get screwed. And welcome to the site.

Rust is a problem for all Tacomas regardless of year.

best to buy one from a southern state if you can

I don't know if any transmission issues. I think I've read one thread on premature trans wear. Climb underneath and have a look at the frame. Toyota just extended the warranty so either way I wouldn't worry too much.

Thank you all. Like Whatstcp mentioned, it is a Southern California Tacoma. It was kept in a three car garage all the time. I looked at 2014 and 2015 Tacomas earlier and I see a big difference between all and this truck. This one looks and ride way better.
This is my first truck the only thing I noticed is how tight the engine is then when I pushed it, it responded nicely.
I have seem and driven several cars but not trucks. This is the limited edition so it has a softer ride than the other four trucks I drove recently.
I'm just freaking out I guess since I read the transmission and rust issues.

    Thanks again.

2nd gen transmissions are practically bulletproof.

Crawl under the truck and look for rust. If its seems okay, buy the truck, cause if you dont , someone else will, or already has.

I've had my '15 for a year and a half now. It's shaping up to be the best vehicle I've ever owned.
    Here's hoping I didn't just jinx myself o_O

2nd Gen ran from 2005 - 2015 - I would hope the bugs had been ironed out by 2015. My 2015 has mileage a baseball throw from yours and has done well.

Get a OBDII reader and plug it into the truck. (Under the dash, to the left of the steering column). If there are any hidden electrical issues, you should get some trouble codes. The readers are not expensive and I never buy a used car/truck without one. Good luck, I love my 2013. 81,000 miles and zero issues.

I called the dealer that has been servicing this Tacoma for the last 5 years. I asked him about the rust and transmission issues. He was a bit surprise then said it's very clean then laughed and said buy it or I would. I don't think he would lie to me.

    Thanks
    Mike

I drive a 2015 DCLB Limited, 38,000 miles runs and shifts perfect, no rust at all, the under looks like new. It's a Florida truck, I go to the beach regularly and saltwater fish and tow boat and launch in salt water, so far so good. My first was an 2005 DCLB, which I gave to my wife :) No rust there either or transmission problems with that one and it's at 255,000 miles.
Do your diligence and you'll be happy

I bought a 2015 a couple of years ago -- a southern Californian truck (San Diego) that I don't think ever saw rain. The frame was beyond perfect.

Don't give it another thought -- buy it.

Yep 2015 is pretty much the best of all the generations and model years. Kept a lot of good from first gen, but ironed out all the issues from 1st and second gen. 3rd gen is a good truck but it’s not the treasure the earlier models were

Sorry guys! I think I was reading about the transmission problems with the 2016 not the 2015. I'm buying it :)
    I'll post pictures soon.

    Thanks,

Rust is an issue for northern tacomas and maybe coastal ones. Mines been in SA for 90k miles and not a spec of rust. So it’s not ALL tacomas.
