I have a 2015 TRD Off Road with a seriously dinged chrome surround on the grille. So I got another grille and tried installing it, but I am struggling to get the original grille removed. Taking out the screws and push-pins on the top is very straightforward. But I am unable to get the bottom to budge. It looks like there are numerous tabs on the bottom with two large tabs at each end. Even when I push one of the end tabs down and pull forward on the grille pretty hard, I can't manage to pop it out. Has anyone else tackled this? And is there a secret to getting the bottom to pop out?

    Thanks!
    Bob

Pull the top out a little then you will see the bottom start to follow. Should take under 10 seconds

I got the top free with no problems, but the bottom seems stuck fast and I don't see anything attaching the grille to the headlights.

Pull up. It slides into two clips beside each headlight. Just unbolt the top and pull straight up. Might take a little muscle

Whenever it feels like its about to break, pull a little harder and she should pop assuming all the clips are disengaged.

Yeah pull up not out. They’re clips that clip in at the bottom on each side.

All of the people that are saying pull up, own ‘05-‘11 Tacos. I’m 95% sure I read somewhere that for the ‘12-‘15, you pull forward. Don’t take my word for it, but don’t pull up without confirming.

Could be. Try both just not hard enough to break anything.

I watched this and followed his instructions pretty much word-for-word. Getting out the four fasterners at the top was trivial. But the "gently tap and pop out the bottom" part just isn't happening. Just to be sure (because some people are saying you have to pull up, not out), I've tried that too. I've tried puling up, pulling forward, and tapping. Nothing dislodges the bottom section of the grille and I don't want to damage the slots in the front bumper cover that the grille tabs at the bottom slide into. At this point, I'm going to punt and get an auto body person to swap in the grille - and I will watch him do it.

There will be some flex in the bumper as you’re lifting up and pulling those tabs outwards

Really weird to explain. As you’re standing in front of the truck, lift the tabs up a bit then push towards you. I usually have one hand on the tab and the other hand stabilizing that area of the bumper

I had a hard time getting my grill out of those bottom tabs as well. A little lube can help. Some soapy water, or we tend to use foaming glass cleaner in my shop. The glass cleaner worked for me. It will feel like your going to break it, that’s usually the point at which it comes loose.
